Initially my pulmo said the same thing about 3% vs 7% and the studies but I tried the 7% anyway and it made a big difference as I recall. Now he recommends 7% so perhaps others told him that it does make a difference.
lindac11208, I have that same situation. I really hope someone answers your question!
It is a mucous dissolving and anti-inflammatory agent. Trials have shown it reduces the frequency of acute worsening episodes and improved the quality of life of those like us who suffer from Bronchiectasis.
I have been on it since the end of April with no problems. In fact I am seeing an improvement I attribute to now using 7% saline and NAC.
Sue it is not really an article but rather a summary of what Bing managed to find. I like the "Chat" part of Bing the best, seems to be more user friendly. You simply ask a question and you get an answer plus a few more similar questions if you wish to explore further. Bill
I switched to 7% saline over a year ago and it definitely helps bring more sputum up for me versus 3%. It was harsh at first but I just stayed with it. There is an excellent Facebook group called Lung matters, which has a lot of information on various topics.
For those who went to NJH where did you stay and how did you get to the hospital? I have an appointment from Oct 25 to Nov 1.

I know you went to NJH. Where did you stay and how did you get to NJH?
Courtyard by Marriott Cherry Creek is fairly close to the hospital. We rented a car from enterprise at the airport. We were very glad we did because otherwise it would cost a fortune to take cabs and you really can’t count on them to get you there on time. We bought a little vacuum cleaner to vacuum the hotel room every day because it was very dusty.

how long after you registered and had an interview with a nurse did you wait for scheduling the actual appointment. I registered in JUne and noone called me since then; i did call and the person told me they were ready to schedule me but only for DEc 21 to dec 29? and they are closed for three days also during this time; i also wander what doctors will be there during the holiday time?
My husband initially did all the calling. After an interview I was told if we had not heard back in two weeks to call back at the number they gave me. When they called back I took the soonest date they had available.
