I've gained close to 8 pounds since March/April since on Forteo, noticing my once tiny waistline disappear. Lilly says they've never heard of this but the belly fat and weight gain is real. Anyone else have this? I also find that taking it at night is better as I don't feel like I have to push myself through the day or take a nap.
I have taken Tymlos and it made me gain weight and belly fat I hate it . I’m going to stop it and start on Forteo in a few weeks , I read that it could cause weight loss , for me I hope I lose instead of gaining weight.

I’m on Tymlos rather than Forteo for 3 months now and have gained almost 20# of primarily belly fat. I constantly crave sugar which is unusual for me. Very distressing and not listed as a side effect. 😢

Hi - I did the same thing, switched to Forteo after 4 months of Tymlos and, sorry to tell you this, but that extra weight gain came on with a vengeance with Forteo. I'm now up 10 lbs since April. I think Tymlos started the tummy and Forteo added the weight. I have doubled down on my workouts and while I still feel like I'm in a fat suit, I do feel stronger in my bones (if its possible to feel that!) and in my overall muscle strength.
There was a post I saw where a woman said the weight began to melt off after she finished her Forteo, that is my hope! Good luck to you.

I spoke to the manufacturers of both, Tymlos and Forteo, each told me weight gain was not a noted side effect. Fun fact: once they pass clinical trials and get their FDA clearance, they do not do further research or testing of the drug. That means 32 years for Forteo, and about 10 years for Tymlos where no further testing was done to identify any other side effects. Its all about the $$$$
tricia225, thanks for your reply. Is your insurance through medicare..... plan D (original medicare) or medicare advantage? For original medicare, I know Plan D can vary. Just curious. I'm on original medicare with Plan D through Aetna.
Hi and sorry for the delay. I am not yet on Medicare (I'm 62) and, from what I'm learning, Medicare Part D is very confusing and can actually work against you. Sorry I couldn't be of any help.

I´ve just started with Forteo 5 days ago. No side effects so far but I have no idea about what can happen in the long term. I´ll keep you posted on any possible weight gain, which I hope doesn´t happen in my case. If I experience any weight loss, I´ll be toasting and jumping off happiness, The treatment is annoying and long itself, so weight gain is bollocks even when, of course, bone health is more important. Let me know how are you doing with that when you start. Best wishes.
This is, precisely, the one-billion-dollar question. Anyone? We would appreciate any of the updates on experience regarding that (in case we, HOPEFULLY, could lose weight after stopping forteo.

My weight remained the same for the two years I was on Forteo. (Which was fine with me.)

Has anyone used the generic form of Forteo -- Teriparatide? Did you have any issues?
How long after stopping forteo do you lose weight
