Aortic valve replacement
Have anyone here ever been through it, will I survive? I’m 45 relatively healthy, don’t smoke I have low blood pressure. How long will I have to be on the breathing machine when I wake up? I’m really scared that I don’t wake up.

I was 48 when I had mine replaced - now 20 years ago. I woke up with no problem. When they took the tube out it was a little weird, but not terrible. I suppose it took a day after surgery to get to that point.
Personally, I was never scared of not waking up. It seemed like a well oiled machine then, that they had the process down. I imagine that it has only gotten better.
So you were awake for 24 hours after surgery with the breathing machine still in? 😩
I have to go to the Cleveland clinic. Are you on blood thinners? Has the replacement held up, or do you have to go through it again?
yes, still in, but wasn't that bad.
Cleveland clinic should be good, from what i understand about it.
Yes, i am on blood thinners. I have a st jude valve, never has needed replacement - yet, any way
An amazing process.
I am so terrified of that, did you feel it, where you coherent, we’re you medicated?
i had my valve put in by Chip Bolman at the University of Minnesota.
I don’t know what to think or do, will I wake up, will I be the same. If I do wake up will I be able to go back to running walking working out. I’m so scared
