Comparison of Spinal Cord Stimulators from Boston Sci., Nevro
I've lived with severe chronic pain in my legs and lumbar spine for the past ten years. Was on opiates for 8 years until I attended & graduated from Mayo's 3-week Pain Rehab Program in 2018. That program helped immensely and I got off 5 meds I used to take, including morphine and hydrocodone. Unfortunately, in the last year my spine health has worsened. I now have a toxic mix of scar tissue (from a dural tear during a microdiscectomy), stenosis at multiple levels, bulging discs and scoliosis. I am now scheduled to do a trial of Boston Scientific's "Wave Writer" SCS on August 10, 2020. Unfortunately my doctor did not guide me in the selection of this manufacturer/model. I did my own research. I considered doing trials of Nevro's HF-10 and Boston Scientific's Wave Writer. Finally decided on the Wave Writer.
I'm posting here to ask for people's knowledge of and/or experience with these two SCS's. Please reply if you can share any information. Thanks!

Very helpful …….. thanks ! So sorry you have had so much suffering and pain. Cabot be much fun.
Dumb and probably seemingly inappropriate question. Can you still do things like get in a poll of the ocean ? Am planning to head to Florida the week after next for 15 days and found that last year my time in the pool while I was recovering from the initial back surgery very therapeutic.
My husband had a spinal stimulator placed. The company that manufactured it was in contact with weekly. They made 2 adjustments (over internet) and it was great for him.

1 ReactionVery encouraging ……… thanks !
I'm new to the site and the conversation. I had my spine stimulator removed just two weeks ago after three years of adjusting and working with my pain management doctor. The trial gave me some relief, so we progressed with the hope to achieve more. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. The stimulator was attempted after having minimal relief from injections and ablations became ineffective. Hopefully the stimulator will work better for others. I had no issues with the device itself. It just didn't work for me.

1 ReactionAppreciate your response and sharing your experience. Am battling in two fronts ……… pain and mobility. Am digressing and it looks like the calvary is not coming. The doctor who is the one who specializes in the spinal stimulator procedure can not seem me for an initial consult for over a month and the neurologist for three months. In the meantime I am digressing daily. By the time I get in to see either specialist I may be back in a wheelchair. Aa they say, it is what it is.

Hi. I'm Maddiemae. I had the stimulator, Boston Scientific, implanted 2 years ago and it worked for about a year. It stopped so I had it removed a month ago. My central pain syndrome causes a severe burning sensation. So I'll see how it goes now.
What kind of pills are the leg cramp pills? Are they magnesium-based or homeopathic?
I appreciate your frustration with getting into the doctor. I've experienced similar timing challenges. Wish you the best getting some help.
Building on your comment "it is what it is", I'm searching for way to cope day to day...meditation, exercise, diet. I'm trying to heal from multiple surgeries within the last year and facing a laminectomy later this year. My body (and mind) is just tired from the surgeries and pain. Not currently facing the debilitation you are experiencing but definitely a lower standard of living. Need to remain positive, which is easier said but I have to keep telling myself
