Tezspire

I tried Tezspire and unfortunately fell at around the same time, not related. I experienced pretty bad back pain afterwards so cannot truthfully attribute this to Tezspire although that’s a main side effect. It helped my asthma tremendously but I stopped due to my pain. I’ve since had to get a hip replacement and will soon start Tezspire again. The side effects from Prednisone are probably worse for your body than Tezspire. You’ll never know unless you try. It was the only asthma medication that’s ever helped me. Good luck

After 2 years of prednisone for PMR, due to the COVID shot, I absolutely cannot deal with more back pain. Also, the side effects from Tezspire of swelling on the face and tongue scare me.
I feel I am being railroaded into taking this by my allergist, and that there are other options to try before an injectable drug that will stay in my body.

my mom (58, female) was diagnosed with mild asthma last november out of nowhere after a particularly bad sinus infection (never had asthma as a kid). since then, she would occasionally use a rescue inhaler when sick… until July when she got an MRI and the injected contrast sent her into a severe asthma attack that never resolved. it’s been 3 months and she is symptomatic all day everyday with coughing or clearing mucus or chest tightness and shortness of breath. she never leaves the house and has no quality of life.

tried tons of inhalers, most had horrible side effects (including crippling anxiety that she’s never had before) and none of them ever make her breathe well/normal. oral prednisone isn’t even doing much anymore. her CT scans, chest x-rays, and pulmonary function tests have remained the same from November to now (mostly normal, pft only shows mild obstructive disease and mild COPD overlay even though she never smoked) but her everyday symptoms are severe.

doctor is considering biologics (namely Tezspire) but she’s afraid to start due to potential side effects/lack of benefit because she doesn’t have allergic or eosinophilic asthma (it’s “non-type 2”, not allergy or exercise induced. IgE is nonexistent)

anyone with non-allergic, non-eosinophilic asthma have any luck with Tezspire? or anything else at all? we’re desperate. thanks!

One week after my second Tezspire shot, my left knee became painful. I’ve never had knee pain in my life, despite being a lifelong fitness freak. After a few weeks, the pain suddenly disappeared. A week later, the right knee became much more painful and now, a month later, I have a torn meniscus. I know the pain was caused by Tezspire and there is no proof that it caused the tear but nothing else changed in my life during that time. I have childhood asthma but I will use my inhalers and nebulizer to control. Never another biologic for me.

Hi. I don't know how many people are active in this chat, but I recently started Tezspire. I should state that I have COPD and was taking a Xolair shot monthly and it really helped to keep me out of the ER my usual 3 to 4 times a year for respiratory infections but it didn't really improve my lung function tests. I also have suffered from anxiety for several decades ( I'm 57). So after my first Tezspire injection ( several days after the shot) I had a severe anxiety episode Tightness in chest, shortness of breath, sense of dread, etc. It passed after a day or 2. When I injected the 2nd dose, I felt really nauseous after about an hour and continued to be throughout the day. Then my anxiety went through the roof! Chest tightness, shortness of breath, light headedness, shakiness, all that have continued to this day ( 2 weeks later) It got so bad I went to the ER. All cardiac tests and chest X-ray came back normal but my symptoms persist. Has anyone experienced similar effects? I've contacted my pulmonologist and he said that we are not going to continue the Tezspire but now it's still in my system and feeling poorly. Thank you for any response or help in this matter.

I am a lifelong asthmatic and had used Xolair when it first came out. It was a blessing for 15 years and really helped me. (Currently 63 F). I am steroid dependent and have tried everything. When my lungs cooperate, I can stay on a low dose of Pred. During exacerbations, I have increased the Prednisone (under pulmonologist care). I have been hospitalized for severe asthma as needed. Through the years, my asthma has eventually gotten worse, especically after menopause. Look into Brovana (a long acting Albuteol for nebulizer).

When the Xolair stopped working, I had the choice of Tespire or Dupixent. Tespire was the newest, works on the lungs in a different mechanism and was thought to be the better medication. It was highly recommended by my pulmonary mds.

The Tezpire helped for about 6 weeks, when side effects showed and it no longer worked. I pushed through but eventually got so sick, that I was hospitalized for about 2 weeks, on high dose steroids - developed DM type 2 from the steroids and was VERY SICK - all related to the Tespire.

Once I was out of the hospital, I was put on Dupixent - which has truly helped me. The Tezpire made me much worse. Even though it is FDA approved, BE CAREFUL!! Not everything that is approved by the FDA works for everyone and more research is needed.
Dupixent is a very good medication, and will help, even when Prednisone needs to be increased due to exacerbations.
Also look into the different inhalers. Breztrei has been changed and approved by the FDA. However, if you tried this and had visual changes, they an still occur even with the new formulation. Treligy is good - but realize if you have a milk/dairy allergy - it should not be used. AirSupra is good - but also contains a steroid inhaler in this rescue inhaler.

READ Everything you can before you consider taking something new or changing something. Singulair and Accolate tablets were considered great a long time ago - now Singular is used for allergies (Xolair is being used for food allergies in children). Accolate was taken off the marked due to manufacturing costs - but has a side effect of short term memory loss. So much is out there that we do not know.
