How long does it take for Tymlos side effects to subside?

Posted by rhondat1964 @rhondat1964, Jun 12, 2023

I’ve been in Tymlos for two months now and have bone pain, dizziness and just overall aches and pains. Does this get better?

@cloud60 that is fantastic! You are a brave soul. I am sticking with 7 clicks for my final two months. If you can do 6, you are getting benefit according to my doc. Keep track of the date as your starting date! Hope you can tolerate it.

For awhile yesterday my bp was 89/44! Again I felt better when I got up and out. I am wondering if moving get my bp up.

Hugs about your blood pressure,
I am sure mine drops too. I think the low sodium is the bigger culprit for me.

Is the starting date of 6 clicks more significant than other starting dates?
It seems I did 5 clicks July 6 and 6 July 10 do you think that was too soon ?

@cloud60 there is no rule about this except that the quicker you can tolerate going up to 6 the better...with tolerate the key word. When I say "tolerate" I don't mean no side effects. I mean, literally, that you can stand and /or that you are not in the hospital for! The lightheaded feelings may last 1-3 hours in my experience.

I went to a museum with my daughter yesterday. I felt very lightheaded but once we got there I was okay. I do feel going out helps me, as I have said before.

I understand you say that but I just want to go to bed and not ruin my day with side effects.

I am 60 years old how old are you ?

I did 7 clicks today with no side effects after two days that were hard. I am a lot older than you @cloud60

If you are having side effects in the morning after taking it at night, maybe you could try a morning shot while getting up and out?

@cloud60 I have only done 8 clicks a few times. I eventually did fine with 6 and then 7 clicks but 8 is still tough.

Do you think with these side effects that this medicine is bad for us?
I sent you a message to your private messaging. But it’s not private info. My dr approved a split dose so now I am up to 30 in the afternoon and 40 in the evening .

I am doing a full dose of 8 now, for my last month or two. Side effects are more delayed, which is interesting.

I was told a large bolus was needed to trigger the parathyroid and it couldn't be split so your news is interesting. If valid, that could help people with side effects but for me it would have meant being sick twice a day, not once, at first!

I try to see side effects as a sign the drug is working 🙂

Wow that you are doing 8!!!
I just could never do that all at once. The headache and racing pulse is too hard.

The conversations and what a doctor thinks a patient means also plays a role. Your doctor might ( not likely) have thought you meant half a dose per day or something.

My doctor was completely against ramping up.
I will ask but according to my doctor’s approval my guess is that My dr will say if you get 80 per day that
would be triggering the parathyroid. Or my dr will say the parathyroid is not where the medicine goes to.

According to the pharmacist this is very normal to split a dose for many injectables.

I don’t think the body is a machine like a car. The body takes medicine in and gradually responds. Hopefully my body is absorbing the medicine and maybe hopefully saying thank you for splitting it.

Either your doctor or my doctor is right but at this point both my specialty pharmacy and my dr agree it is fine to do this.

Like I said, It’s possible your doctor thought you meant split the dose over two days?
I know that’s not likely what he thought.

My side effects over two injections are tolerable and they were too hard in one. I am glad I did the ramping up ( against my dr’s orders) and I am glad I am splitting the dose ( against your doctors orders) I am certainly the type to not be able to do these side effects but given ramping up and splitting I can do it at least so far.

The side effects are much better for me at 3-4 then 6 and I couldn’t get to 7 ever before.

It took me almost two years to get to 8 and side effects are significant. At 7 clicks I am pretty good. I am just doing a last push.

That’s really great that you are able to do 8.
Is there any chance this drug causes cancer or Alzheimer’s or cardiac problems.
Even talcum powder causes cancer. I just wonder with such side effects is it a bad sign that it’s just not what the body wants.
It’s great you can do 8 I fell I never will be able to.
3 in the afternoon and 4 at night is working for me. It’s my best option now.
