How long were you in hospital after TAVR procedure?
I have heard everything from one to 5 day stay in the hospital after a TAVR procedure. I realize it depends on individual situations, and I would love to hear about your experience. My relative is having one at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN and we are trying to make air travel arrangements. Thank you for your help - do appreciate it!

I had the TAVR procedure a month ago.
I stayed overnight, routine there. However, the stay may be longer if there are complications.
It is not unusual to develop a heart block- the heart’s electrical system is located close to where the valve is placed.
I developed a left bundle branch block. They left a pacing wire in place postop in case they had to intervene. After a few hours I was stable and the wire was removed.
This type of complication can cause a longer hospital stay. Some patients may need a pacemaker.
I’m sorry I can’t give you a more precise answer.
My 93 year-old father, who also has COPD, stayed over night. This was Tuesday night. He has been walking the hallways in his residence for old folks since returning home later Wednesday.
I am 92 and I had a TAVR in January 2022. I did not stay overnight. My choice. I was offered the opportunity of staying, but I felt I would be more comfortable at home. It seemed like a very simple procedure. A quite sleep for about 1/2 a hour, and it was all done.

I had open heart surgery to install a mechanical aortic valve. This was 15 years ago and due to a murmur. It’s still as strong as it was when installed. However, I have started to develop a slight murmur over the crispy beat. As a result I am permanently on Coumadin, a blood thinner.
Would TAVR be ok with thinner or thicker INR levels? I vary around 2.5-3.5 witch is in range. But I’ve been as low as 1.0 out of range and a danger of a blood clot. I’ve been at 12.0!
A very critical chance of bleeding anywhere including my brain.
What are the chances of getting it done by TAVR?
I am glad that your procedure went well.
Are you still taking Eloquis and was there any discussion of the Watchman or Sentinal implant prior to your surgery?
The Cleveland Clinic implants them routinely with the TAVR but it seems that Mayo does not and the differenc confuses me.
@cherhugh
I did not have either implant.
I am on Plavix for 6 months.
I am 92 and had a TAVA 2 yeaars ago Aortic Valve Replacemet. I had a lung embolism following Hip Replacement, so have been on baby aspirin ever since. Occasionally I find it necessary to go on once every other day. So far so good. No more embolisms.

I cant tell you about time in the hospital for a TAVR procedure, I can tell you about open heart surgery when a mechanical valve was put in and two I'll say plastic tubes were installed on the ascending and descending aeorda. Surgery tues and released on sat, I was walking in the hallway late Tuesday evening. Good luck Dave
