Extreme exhaustion after normal exertion?
I had Covid in October, and soon after developed symptoms in my G.I. tract, my joints, and experienced severe exhaustion after doing normal household tasks that would’ve never bothered me before. It’s so bad that I have to lay down and tell my husband I am “having a spell“. I’ve been to the doctor. My lungs are fine. My blood work is all good, and he has said by heart is fine . Had echocardiogram and, CAT scan and a myriad of tests. We all assume Long Covid ,PS I am 78 years old. It’s become debilitating for me since I am generally very active ,gardening, exercising, walking ,yoga. This has really aged me and I wonder if I will ever get my life back . wondering if anyone has any ideas or has similar experiences.

Thanks for the info.
I just had my blood work done for a physical and my EOS% is higher than the normal range.. Has anyone else had this happen? Could long covid cause it?
I believe you about not being contagious and will feel better around my grandkids. I have new blood work in Aug and hopefully it will be back to normal.
Thank you for all your help.
I have read some responses, reading wears me out and typing even more so. Before all this covid my pcp was putting me through all sorts of heart testing to try to figure out my low energy/fatigue. Heart was fine. I guess it is all process of elimination. I got my second pf vaccine then two weeks later I was walking around like I was drunk, so unbalanced. My pcp ordered an MRI and carotid artery scan, very long story made short, I had 2 strokes and did not even know it until after the MRI. Carotid was clear. Then in January 2022 got covid from my husband. It has been downhill since, my low energy has turned to almost no energy. Have seen numerous specialists, all they want to do is pump you full of pills that make me want to sleep all day. Finally found a great physical therapist that is helping me deal with dizziness, which is new, he was actually explaining about dizziness. This short diddy took about an hour to type. I am 78 I was fairly active riding fourwheelers, gardening, etc, lucky now if I can do dishes or laundry.
@lindalk you should definitely consider getting your lactic acid levels checked.
Symptoms of lactic acidosis include dizziness, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, and more.
I have the same symptoms you have and all my cardiovascular stuff came back normal. It's only on the off-chance that my husband found all this new research about longcovid patients having elevated lactic acid.
If you have elevated lactic acid, you can go on the PRAL diet for kidney patients and drink alkaline water that is specifically paired with carbonate (not the sodium hydroxide, that doesn't have the right molecule you need. Brand name Body Armor has the right molecule).
Please please get this checked. It can be treated, but if it's not it self-perpetuates!
No I'm not sure what effect lactaid has. Definitely ask your doc.
What I've been using to treat my lactic acidosis: the PRAL diet for kidney patients, alkaline water with carbonate in it (not the sodium hydroxide. That's the wrong molecule for what's going on. Check the label to see that it says potassium carbonate or calcium carbonate), and hyperbaric therapy.
Thank you so much for this information.
Lactic acid is 1.4 just checked , was in ER a few months ago and checked online. They took lots of blood for testing.
I have had all the vaccines for covid. In January of 2022 I got covid from my hubby. I ended up with extreme high BP (normally was low) in ICU. Very fatigued and in ICU for 6 days. Since then on high Bp meds. It has been very hard as like you I used to be very active. I am still very fatigued but little by little improving. Heart doc said high BP was related to covid. I also wanted to mention I also would het your thyroid checked to make sure your levels are o.k. Together we can get through this. This covid has been a hellish thing to deal with. Hugs and keep strong.
Yes. We need to stick together and share what tips we have. I hope you get better and can get your life back !! 🥰
