What supplements help Osteopenia, Osteoporosis?
Hi, I am a new member here and wanted to find out if anyone has used AlgaeCal Plus & Strontium Citrate for Osteopenia? I have had this condition for 10 years now plus five years with Osteoarthritis of the hip which I am hoping will help not only my hip but the DEXA scan came up with Osteopenia scores.

@elt Your bone density on a DEXA may look better than it really is because strontium is heavier than calcium and when it replaces calcium in the bones it affects the DEXA. That doesn't mean it isn't able to help, it just means you cannot tell how much! Maybe the radiologist can adjust for you.
windyshores, Thank you, I was aware of that. Pizzarno addresses that in the book.
Am interested in hearing from anyone who has actually seen an improvement in their dexa after using algaecal without strontium.
I took algaecal..I maintained my scores which I was satisfied with
I also would like that info. Having been using the product without stronium and have not had a dexa scan yet I am due this year for one. Will post after scan results.
I'm reading this because I'd like to try algaecal but its expensive. Do you get it on Amazon?
I take Algaecal and I purchase it in their website. I also take Bone and Marrow and Living Bone from a Ancestral Supplements, Ultra K2, and Vitamin D3 + K2. My next dexascan will be this fall. Additionally. I use 2lb. ankle weights when I do exercises to add more weight to my weight bearing exercise routine. My goal is to not take any of the medications for my osteoporosis and osteopenia.
The supplements I mentioned above- Algaecal, Bone and Marrow and Living Bone are food based supplements which my doctor recommended.
@gigi4 You are lucky to have a doctor that is working
With you towards your goal. When I refused to take osteoporosis drugs until I researched them, my doctor told me to take 2 Tums daily. This was an endocrinologist, 🤦
That’s so disrespectful to you and arrogant. Makes me wonder why and curious if the doctors get kickbacks.
I hope you can find another doctor willing to work with.
The Vitamin K needs to be K2. There are two types MK4 and MK7. MK4 is prescribed in Japan at dosages of 45 mg daily. MK7 is taken at up to 120 mcg daily.
