Has anyone experienced Covid Gut? What helps?

Posted by robintromp @robintromp, Oct 14, 2022

I have been diagnosed with Long Covid Gut issues. Bloating started two weeks after I recovered from Covid and I am now in my ninth month. The GI doctors have tested me for everything and it all came back normal. Has anyone experience Covid Gut? If so, has anything helped or have things improved with time?

The low FODMAP diet seems to have helped me too and I’m beginning to identify problem foods, mainly gluten. Interestingly, my gastroenterologist wasn’t very encouraging about it, but it does seem to be effective. Good luck and keep trying!

I agree with eliminating gluten and sugar. I had to follow a lymphedema diet which eliminates anti-inflammatory foods. I take a probiotic with dinner. I gained 60 pounds in 6 months post covid that doesn’t want to budge. Tried Weight Watchers which has always been effective in the past. Now doing no gluten, no sugar, but no weight loss. I’m staying on the diet though because it has eliminated the bloating I was having regularly.

What did you have to do for a guy dumping?

Not sure if you're kidding "Guy Dumping" or not but if you have a guy you want to get rid of - just start talking about marriage. That usually works.

I have developed gastroparesis after Covid. I’m struggling trying to find what I can eat. They say eat small meals and soft foods. Nothing fried or high fiber foods, but cooked veggies. They told me protein shakes .

Similar to other commenters, I changed my diet drastically and added supplements (ALCAT plus Leo Gallands long covid histamine elimination diet). I feel much much better (PEM is going away), still have bad brain fog, but have recovered some physical stamina. Surprisingly I have lost weight, look better and have lost puffiness that I would sometimes feel in my face and eyes, that no doctor had an answer for. For me this diet is no grains, dairy, beef, nuts, fruits limited to berries, and tons of greens (cooked) mushrooms onions olive oil, coconut, seeds, water- it is a wild diet that is completely different for me but seems to be working!

I am having terrible acid reflux and slow motility. I am in the thick of it trying to find a cure. Elemental health powder seems to help me. It is predigested protein powder. I do put berries and banana in it as well. Under Dr Ruscio online.

I had covid 4 months ago with severe diarrhea. I also had a kidney transplant 3 years ago so I'm on immune suppressingsuppressing drugs. I was able to finally eat something for several weeks after getting diarrhea. Then one day the most severe nausea I've ever had in my life. And also had severe burning in my bowel. My stomach line was so sensitive I couldn't even take a vitamin. Even my transplant medications were upsetting my stomach. My doctor put me on omeprazole. I can barely eat anything probably about six different foods especially dairy and breads are nasty. Severe pain and bloating in my stomach. After 4 weeks omeprazole wasn't working it just got worse. I was going to the bathroom a little everyday. Then one day I got the runs and it empty my bell completely. Now I feel like I have no bloating or no stomach pain but I haven't eaten for 2 days I'm afraid to eat now that eating going to start again discomfort and pain again. Has anybody dealt with this situation. A naturopath suggests that it's probably candida that's causing the extreme inflammation in the stomach lining.

Sounds like long gut covid.

Been there. After first painful episode one month after mild covid, I experienced all your same symptoms for one month. Lost 9#.
Advised to start one carton Activia yogurt AM and PM, and take Loprimide HCL 2 MG as directed for the diarrhea and gut pain.

The spike protein in the covid infection or vaccine seems to be attacking the gut lining.

Symptoms come and go, tho milder than the first attack. Use above treatment daily if needed.

I will never take any vaccine again using the spike protein in it.
