Just one more thing that comes to mind, if this is your first couple of months or so here in North Carolina. It will never get as cold as where you come from, never. I have been here for over 20 years and have not worn a coat yet during their harshest winters, I have sweatshirts and a shawl in the trunk of my car. I love to travel during their off-tourism season when especially their tourist spots like the beach and I think the hotels in Ashville may be the same you do not pay nearly as much as you would during this time of year between Labor Day and Memorial Day and as late as say after Thanksgiving depending on where you want to go in NC. For a hotel stay say that you would pay up to nearly two hundred or more a night during this time you can stay for half, if not less than half during their off-season and you would at the beach not be cold, it will be chilly, since the season and on the beach, but you can very-well handle their mild winters. Just a thought I wanted you to know before I forget. I travel and vacation between October to maybe even January depending on the weather expected.
Hi, Carolyn. I moved here from central Arizona so I shed my winter clothes over 10 years ago, but thanks for the advice anyways! I moved to Arizona from the Midwest 10 yrs ago and the winters in the Midwest are long and brutal. I felt I had to move to Arizona because in the winter I experienced so much chronic pain that I could not move. It was no life for me any longer. All I could do was lay in bed and it became too depressing. I was addicted to pain killers and benzodiazepines. I got off all drugs while in Arizona. Arizona was better for my health, but then my son moved to Charlotte with my grandbabies during COVID times . . . I moved here having never been on the east coast. Took a big leap of faith. My grandbabies make my life worth living! It has been a culture shock to be honest. I have been to Myrtle
Beach with my son and his family to see the ocean. It is amazing, peaceful and I felt at home in Myrtle Beach!

4 ReactionsTo anyone suffering from increased depression/ anxiety please know a Poor Thyroid Function (low usually) can result in Depressive Symptoms or WORSENING of DEPRESSION. Check out HyPOthyroid Symptoms- if you have them- DO NOT SETTLE FOR -Just a “Your TSH IS NORMAL ( in Range)”. These numbers are too high for many people. Up to 50% of Hypo’s go undiagnosed ! ASK FOR FURTHER TESTING IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS OF Hypothyroidism. This is true for so many people especially IF You are depressed or you find yourself NEEDING MORE MEDS -TO CONTROL Depression. My Shrink-Found My “Hypo” after NEEDING TO doubling my antidepressant !
Also Females have “Hypo”- in much larger numbers than Males.
Depressed or more so than ever before-ask for/ Demand-
“A FULL
Thyroid
Panel”.

3 ReactionsI love Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. Do not know how old your grandbabies are but they have a really nice library just for kids. It is called Imaginon downtown Charlotte. I was during my previous life a librarian and remember before and when it opened and was very new years ago. You are in a really nice place to find things to do. Raleigh, Ashville, and the beaches are all nice places. I am glad you have found a place of peace at Myrtle Beach. I have not been in years since it has become a popular tourist spot. You are brave and taking a big leap of faith I hope this finds you feeling continued courage, and strength and enjoying your son and family, especially your grandbabies. They have a way of motivating a continued journey to a hopefully better life indeed.

2 ReactionsI am also not a religious person so the Unitarian Church is perfect for me. I also found a seniors group before I retired and have made many good friends in the seven years I've been a member. Best wishes to you - Kathleen

Greetings. I had paid for a cruise to St. Petersburg just prior to COVID. Lucky, I got my money back from Norwegian cruise lines. Cruise lines have trips for single travelers.

1 ReactionUnitarian Churches are the place to go if you’re not a church member? Can Christians attend services?
I was born in Quebec province and live in the United States as an American citizen but I am also a Canadian citizen (I am a dual). And have been to PEI a few times and it’s gorgeous with natural beauty and worth the trip if you ever are able to visit.
Anyone can attend a UU church and become a member. Our website is scuu.org if you're interested in learning more.
