Lichen planus - oral , vulval and oesophagus

Posted by suewq @suewq, May 13, 2023

I have been diagnosed with oral , vulval and oesophageal lichen planus. This appears extremely rare and medication has been proposed ( Prednisolone followed my methotrexate) .
Any treatment and success of treatment for oesophagus lichen planus in particular would be welcome

@suewq, there are several discussions about lichen planus that I can share with you.
- Lichen planus https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/lichen-planus-2da636/
- Vaginal pain Lichen Planus https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/vaginal-pain-lichen-planus/

- Oral lichen Planus: What home remedies or medications help you? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/oral-lichen-planus-3/

Has this gradually moved from one location to another for you or all places at once? It sounds like the esophageal region is the most challenging. Is that true?

I was diagnosed with a lichen planus skin rash all over my body after my first rounds of Covid, flu and pneumonia vaccines back in 2020. (They were administered 1 month apart, each.) For my skin lichen planus, triamcinalone cream worked well to control itch and discomfort. If the outbreak was especially bad, I used betamethasone. I also continue to use Aveeno Daily moisturizing Intensely dry skin ( with Oat probiotics) . I have seen a lot of improvement and continue with the Aveeno 3-4 times a day. It is a very hard rash to deal with.

Recently, I have been diagnosed with oral lichen planus after many wrong diagnoses and treatments. My dentist and oral surgeon were not helpful. My allergist prescribed triamcinalone dental paste and that seems to be helping the burning, stinging, and the sores on my tongue. And yes, I too sometimes bite my tongue without even knowing it since this rash evolved in my mouth.

If anyone has other suggestions or helpful ideas, please pass them on.
