As an American who's been living in England for many years, my pain specialist prescribed me Sativex Oromucosal Spray (3 vials) and very expensive - £400.
Though it temporarily helped with my chronic foot pain, I won't get it again since it made me sleepy, dizzy and almost paranoid.

We all have slightly different metabolisms. I gave my wife one of the gummies that I use and she had a very bad experience. I do weigh 75 pounds more than she does. I probably should have cut the gummie in half. My error.

For me, medical marijuana has been a lifesaver. I have osteoarthritis and spinal stenosis and scoliosis. I had a laminectomy on L2-L5. I take Tramadol and acetaminophen 4 times a day. I take 5 or 10 milligrams of THC every evening in the form of an edible (either a gummy or piece of chocolate bar). Recreational Marijuana is legal in the state I live in, but I have a medical marijuana card which I recommend because the prices are cheaper since you pay less tax and at the dispensary you get to move to the front of the line. I don’t recommend smoking marijuana.
The edible decreases my pain, make me happier, and helps me fall asleep. It also makes music sound better and food taste better. The only negative is that it makes me thirsty, but that’s no big deal, I just drink more water. Before I started taking a edible every day I was frequently feeling despair. Now it’s not as bad. I highly recommend marijuana for chronic pain.

Good evening @ess77, thank you for the mention. I have also been thinking about you lately as folks who are new wonder how this Connect forum works. I am so glad your medical cannabis is working for you. Mine is also. In fact, today I was having a rough time. We are expecting my daughter and granddaughters next weekend so today I did some big-time shopping.

Of course, by the time I got home, my SFN was alive and well. So I went outside my usual routine and had a 1:1 dosage. Now look....it is 1 a.m. and I am awake, pretty pain-free and "working". A little off-kilter but still human and productive.

May you have joy and find love.
Chris

I appreciate people who are sharing their experiences with cannabis--especially the specifics of how many mgs are effective. My physiatrist suggests that I just keep experimenting--my goals is to not get high but have the pain go into the background. I've been doing 2.5 mg of THC--often a 1:1 ratio with CBD and keep thinking I need to quit cutting that 5 mg gummy in half and move up in mgs. It seems different brands certainly work differently. Thanks for all the input here! Rebecca

Welcome @bonnieh, you are not jumping in you are just joining us as we explore medical cannabis options and opportunities, Do you still see your Mayo doctor? Do you live in a marijuana legal state? In some states like Minnesota you must have a specific diagnosis and chronic pain is one. In other states you can just register with a dispensary. They often have pharmacists who specialize in helping you get started and monitor your experience,

In other states you are your own prescriber and must monitor your own experiences, Choosing medical cannabis doesn’t mean you are replacing prescribed medications,, You only need two products, topicals and tinctures, And you need to memorize this phrase....you can always have more, you cannot have less. Take it easy. Here is a good site to start,

If you would like to get started please let me know where you live and what you are now using for pain.

May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering,
Chris

I am very interested in getting and using CBD. I live in Texas. I am going thru having the nerve endings burned with laser In two days I am having a spinal block. I take Tylenol and when the pain is bad I take a hydrocodone and that puts me to sleep. Where would I go to get the CBD. Skip

Hello. I’ve had chronic pain for yrs.. I use the oil …. The best is sativa @ day time as soon as my feet hit the ground :). Then @1 hour before bed or so I do the indica oil. It’s strong. I only do a little drop so little maybe size of a pen head. Where the ink comes out. Give it 30 / to an hr you should feel great and as soon as u begin to feel the pain do it again. Night time just take lay down rest fall asleep. Hope this helps. I’m a huge fan of oil/ RSO !!!!!!

Where do you buy these products? How did you learn about using it and how much to use?

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'm working to calibrate dosage and wondering with your Sativa oil, how many milligrams of THC do you think are in the little drop you use? Thanks!

I’m 72,and yes it helps. It is very strong, the gummies etc are too strong for me.
I cut them 1/8 and eat them with food. I have found the soda pop is the best for me. The can re-seals and is good for weeks. I take only 2 small sips a day and I don’t need Aleve. I would start with the soda and maybe you will need more. You can try the gummies too, but do take both with food.
I have a firestorm in my legs 24/7, no diagnosis. Only 1/4 of my body feels normal. My upper right side is fine.
