Unfortunately you are correct these patches are costly but it works and to me worth the expense. And with the addition of cannabis I’m in a good space. In 2025 for Medicare beneficiaries our out of pocket will cap at $2500. Between my doc visits, physical therapy sessions and medication cost I reached $4500 out of pocket in April. As inflation continues it gets harder to juggle to bucks. I’m looking forward to 2025.
I experienced a spinal cord injury in 2006. By 2009, I was being given 300mg of morphine and 100mcg of fentanyl for pain. In 2010, I attended the PRC and came off all the drugs. This was hard and remains hard, but it's worth it!
My state has a medical Marijuana program and I have to say, it works for me. I estimate up to a 20% reduction to pain and nausha. That is huge, when you are hurting.
I know that the doctors are getting terrible pressure to significantly limit opioid use. THC & CBD are much kinder to the body than opioids. If your doctor thinks you are a good candidate, try it. Live a little and get part of your life back.
I live upstate N.Y. I have fibro my algae and stage 3 ckd. I qualify for medical marijuana but the cost is prohibitive for me. I can't smoke it because of my asthma. Why is the cost so high and not covered by Medicare?
Try Delta 8, get at vape shops. Getting lots of attention. Just FYI

That’s an advantage plan.
I have a NOT advantage plan, I never get a bill. I have Mutual of Omaha. Others offer the NOT advantage plans.
Your $4500 out of pocket would cover more than 2 years of NOT advantage plan.
It’s a shame what we have to go through
I’m not in a habit of complaining about things I have no control over, it’s a waste of energy.
Sorry, but you do have control
As I have written previously, CBD alone helped me reduce my oxycodone use from 6 to 4 a day PRN. Adding THC to the CBD (much easier and safer) helps me deal with my chronic pain better emotionally and throughout my day. I have no expectations of being totally pain free since I cannot use any anti inflammatory OTC or prescription drugs and never had back injections. I use buprenorphine patch 20mcg/7 days routinely, drink green tea, take turmeric 2000mg/day and eat an anti inflammatory diet. Except for my chronic level 5-6 back and leg pain I’m in the best shape I’ve ver been in for 69.
I know plenty of people that have smoke marijuana to reduce the pain. Serious back surgeries, I mean even muscle spasm will stop. CBD oil how know what strength your setting unless it tested. The researchers found that participants preferred Indica strains for pain management, sedation, and sleep while they would opt for Sativa strains to improve energy and mood. works for me too. All the horrible synthetic pain med is bad.
I initially tried high THC with and without CBD and it didn’t work. I eventually switched them up and reversed them and it works for chronic pain. But in my experience cannabis does not numb my acute pain.
