Is Dr. Gundry and "leaky gut" a scam?

Well, I have been researching anything that can return my regular BM since my intestinal prolapse surgery in October and now I am becoming more than a little concerned. I also read Dr Gundry's excerpts from his book and I think he sounds like he just wants money from people. Not an expert as he calls himself. I don't know what to use anymore because nothing is really working.. Doctors have prescribe the Miralax, Lactulose, Bisacodyl, Phillips Milk of Magnesia (yuk) and other over the counter things- such a waste of money .... the list goes on... I was so desperate last week I bought one of those liquid enema apparatus kits.. but I felt it was too dangerous and that I may harm myself even further... my PCP suggested eating 2 Kiwi's Fruits and at least 64 ounces of warm lemon water per day.. Apparently Kiwi's are the new "Prunes" Yoga and different types of twisting exercises sometimes gets things moving a bit, but none of this gives me the relief that is needed to be normal. I am literally full of ___ !! Today I decided I am no longer eating because it is not being eliminated properly. I can't go on this way any longer.. Each doctor seems to be of no help. This is such a condition that is difficult and embarrassing to talk about, even to a gastrologist .. I don't know... I feel something is terrible wrong.. Please, does anyone have any have any other suggestions about what I can do this weekend? Thank you so much for any response 🙁

I would recommend that you try Reiki. It is energy healing. I thought that this was just hocus pocus until I actually saw what it can do. This and reflexology can be a great comfort to you. Good Luck!

Plant-based diet, avoiding nightshades (tomatoes, eggplant, bell peppers).
Light breakfast (millet, quinoa, amaranth, etc.). Heaviest meal at lunch (avoid red meat... chicken, turkey, fish OK. Light dinner (soup). Finish dinner by 7 pm or so.
Bedtime by 10 pm, up by 6 am (before sunrise).
Dry figs soaked overnight, with breakfast or any other time. 2-3 pieces.
Homemade yogurt (it's easy), diluted with three parts water (lassi) and a bit of either good sugar (turbinado) if you are slim, or unheated honey if you are heavier. Have with lunch or after lunch. Not in the morning or at night. This is the best probiotic. Most probiotics in the market are useless as by they time they get to you the friendly bacteria had died. An exception is the Natren brand. Don't have straight yogurt, always dilute it with water.
Prebiotic foods: Okra, Asparagus Taro Root, Marshmallow Root, Slippery Elm, Arrowroot powder.
Cultured ghee for internal lubrication (havedadotcom). Best source of butyrate.
Flora Tone and Triphala from mapidotcom. 2-3 tablets of triphala half hour before bedtime gives a gentle laxative effect the next morning.
If you find an Ayurvedic practitioner in your area, inquire about education, experience, reputation, etc. and if it checks out have a consultation.

Hi. Obviously you can't stop eating tho anger and frustration can make us want to give up. Not eating is of course I give up and if you really did stop eating, well its suicidal. So my next question would be "Are you so beside yourself and feeling so gaslighted you are really ready to give up and leave?"

I think you would have said more, hope anyway.

I have the opposite issue. IBS with very frequent Diarrhea (4-12x/day for 40 years. For real.)

So I have taken triphala as mentioned elsewhere. It can help constipation/ obstipation but also can help regulate your stools. Either way I found. Don't poo-poo herbs bur do your own research. No overnight cure people who advertise on tv, youtube or esp FB. Lets face it, its not to keep prices low - its to avoid the FDA.

And ill just say, kind of funny but very very true (others?) The minute I walk into a thrift store I need to go. Same with a library. Something about old books it seems to me. Maybe its an allergy to old book mites? Ot just is? Like noticably not related to eating. 15 minutes after eating is always an issue. I know where every BR in town is. Believe me, It's an issue.

Like you, nobody has ever offered me good treatment I guess because I'm not thin since an anti-cancer drug (megace) they gave me before my hyst. Another story tho.

One more off thing is a cod liver oil pack on your belly. Its really very good for pain, etc (an old treatment but actually became an old wives tale because it works. Read about it and you can buy a cod liver oil pack on amazon to keep things less messy. On an abdomen with a heating pad is less messy than a hip. Worth researching for any number of issues. I would sound insane if I were to tell you how many things its really really helped. But I did avoid knee surgery! Be

I know this is an old post but is still an issue for many.

Look up the Asian squat on YouTube. Really helps me when i have constipation. I also take at least 400mg magnesium. Let us know how you get on. All my best.

I drink a natural tea called PinaLim. One cup of hot tea at night before going to bed, and results in the morning. The word Pina comes from the word pineapple, and the word Lim comes from the Spanish word limpia which means to clean or clean out. It was recommended by a caregiver for my 90-year-old mother who was constantly constipated. It did the trick for mom. I was on vacation in Mexico and found it there by accident in a pharmacy, but you can order it from Amazon. It’s very inexpensive. Now I drink a cup at night when needed, but I stay close to home the next day. By the way, my mother‘s doctor told her to stay away from MiraLAX type products. All the best!

I’ve suffered from good issues most of my life. I recently came into a simple and natural way that has really helped me tremendously. Buy an aloe vera leaf, cut the get inside the leaf into small pieces and freeze it like a little tablet. The get is bitter. Take one every day before your meals and you will see that in about a week. Your stomach will be just fine. Any lesions or anything that’s inside your stomach will be healed by the aloe vera which has healing properties..
I’m no doctor, but this has worked for me and it’s natural and doesn’t cost a fortune and you don’t need a subscription.

I have had the same problem as you. I am on opioids for back pain and do the following: every night have 3 capfuls of miraliax; followed by three tablets of RELISTOR, a prescription medicine for opioid induced constipation. that is the only thing that works for me at this moment in my long digestive journey. Relistor belongs to a class of drugs called PAMORA, something you might want to google. I don't know if people who are not on opioids will qualify for this scrip but it sure worked for me.

In addition I have had a chronic motility problem for decades, and when things get bad, I go to a responsible colonics therapist, who is also an RN, so she knows when a person's condition would not be compatible with colonics. That procedure will provide relief for even the worst cases, provided you qualify, your practitioner is responsible and you can afford it. Regretfully insurance does not cover it

I feel for you and wish you the best!

I eat polenta every time I have the slightest digestion problem but I grew up with it and make it myself. Fermented veg (which I also make myself) seem to help, as well. Good luck, it must be terrible for you.
