OMG! This is my story! I also had intestinal prolapse surgery and I am now trying to balance, constipation and diarrhea. your story is very disheartening since it’s been only 2 months post surgery for me and I was hoping I just needed more time. Now I think I may never be normal again. Please keep me posted
Take the liquid you bought! I went to emergency room and was told I was full of s—-and they gave me something and did not work. After prunes, laxatives I finally bought the liquid bottle and it immediately worked!!!!
It all takes time….be patient….start introducing more fiber in what you eat……fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains, lots of water during the day AND be sure you exercise, even a 10 minute walk so you get out and get some sunshine……..
You may try these Mini enimas called enemeez or even a suposotory called the magig bullet.
They are what people with spinal cord injurys use and are small and easy to use etc.
@tabithatwitch I have slow motility and constipation. I have been taking two tablespoonsful of psyllium fibre (generic of Metamucil, from a health food store) once a day in an 8oz. glass of water followed by another 8oz. glass of water and have had no problems with bowel movements since. I started out with one teaspoonful daily, then a couple of weeks later two teaspoonsful, increasing by a teaspoonful every two weeks till I was taking a tablespoonful a day.
Metamucil (brand name psyllium fibre) is expensive, but it comes in different flavours. Generic psyllium fibre is more affordable - and unflavoured, which is okay with me because I don’t like flavours anyway.
If you decide on the psyllium fibre from the health foods store. Make sure you get the bag marked “WHOLE husk psyllium” NOT “ “psyllium husk POWDER” which is fine ground like flour, because the fine ground husk powder gels immediately, and difficult to swallow. both are ground, but the powder is ground too fine, just like flour. It becomes a choking hazard!
Whichever product you choose, make sure you do not bend over or lie down within two hours of taking it.
Psyllium fibre is much more effective than all those products you have mentioned. Those other products are only stool bulking aides but do nothing for motility. Besides that, they cause a buildup on the lining of your bowel. Psyllium fibre, on the other hand, is actual fibre just like any food fibre, and it actually triggers motility, making stools easier to pass through the colon - and it sloughs off any “debris” clinging to your colon too.
I suffer from constipation and I'm always clocking what I've eaten and if it's made it out of my body and I've been listening to Dr. Gundry's podcasts recently thinking maybe if I change my diet maybe I'll do better.. and have normal bowel movements... but I'm also worried that being constipated, what it's doing to my intestinal walls you know am I Leaking shit into my bloodstream? are these lectin's that he talks about real? I just bought his vitamins the one they are 3 something.
I was really hoping when I googled is Dr. Gundry a fraud? that I would get all of this information saying that he's not a fraud that he is really a person that was overweight and stopped being a heart surgeon to do this new thing on life,
And really is doing it to help other people and not just to get rich... part of me Believes that he's real I really hope that his vitamins are not bullshit but I think that most human beings are greedy and wanna have a lot of money and they lose track of what's important, and I think that it's terrible to do something that harms other human beings... in one of his podcast. He mentions that the whole medical industry wants us to be like in the middle so we keep having to buy medication's. That was really troubling to hear and so I'm hoping that he isn't doing the same thing because you know he keeps pushing these pills to help your gut... ... anyway more importantly, I feel really bad for you that you had intestinal surgery and I really hope you're not serious about not eating anymore. I think that would be a horrible thing to do. I think your intestines are going to heal and I know that it's probably really depressing and probably painful what you're going through but just know that there are people that do care about other human beings and what they're going through. That's why I'm replying to your post because it seems really heartfelt and I've gotta now Google what surgery that you got actually is cause I don't know anything about it... anyways, my name is Scott , you can write me back or whatever but please dude don't stop eating!!
Look into the healing powers of intermittent fasting / time restricted eating. It seems unrelated, but if you read "Why we get sick" you'll learn it's ALLL about insulin and food quality (for everything from leaky gut to Alzheimers!).
IMO the first book to read to set a framework is "Fast, feast, repeat" by Gin Stephens. She explains (in simple easy to read language) why to fast (or do time restricted eating) and HOW to fast.
She bases all of her writing on other's research and the findings of Dr. Jason Fung -- who's has AMAZING results and research on fasting and disease... but can be a bit convoluted in his explanations of WHAT to do to solve your issues.
Nevertheless ... I recommend listening to Dr. Jason Fung's podcast. Reading Gin Stephan's Fast, Feast, Repeat, and Benjamin Bickman's Why we get sick. All soooooooo eye opening, and instructional as to how to elevate / cure IBS and other gastro-intestinal issues as well as everything from type 2 Diabetes and Depression to preventing Alzehiemers. Who knew they were alllll related?!!!
They'll explain the role of insulin and how you might be spiking your insulin (and thus not giving your digestive tract time to rest) without even realizing it, and how important digestive rest is to give your body time to clean up "junky" cells and other issues by use of Autophagy.
Once you start down this health rabbit hole, you'll realize, it's the real thing!
I recommend:
Gin Stephens' book "Fast, Feast, Repeat" and her podcast "intermittent fasting stories"
Canadian Dr. Jason Fung's' you tube videos (or if you're really sciency his booksDiabetes Code and Cancer Code)... and his co-aministrators' podcast "The fasting Method"
Researcher Tim Spector's YouTube talks about gut health
Benjamin Bikman's book "why we get sick"
These will blow your mind, but also give you an understanding as to how to heal your digestive tract issues and health overall.
They've really helped me.
Good luck!
I don't know about Dr. Gundry, but I do know that a healthy gut is important concerning the issues you are mentioning. Have you tried probiotics. I take them everyday as they provide good bacteria for gut health. It is true that the supplement should also contain prebiotics. The one I use has 10 strains and 60 million CFU's. Not only am I regular, but I feel really good. I will be 70 next year and I started taking probiotics after being on anti biotics for a while. Antibiotics kill all the bacteria in your gut (good and bad). I did my research and now my gut health is wonderful. It won't hurt for you to start taking probiotics. Check with your doctor. Make sure it has multiple strains and at least 40 to 60 million CFU's (colony forming units). God bless.
Dr, Grundy comes off as an authority on everything. I saw one of his ads on line about leaky gut and it took forever for him to come around to tell you that he is trying to peddle a supplement that he has created. Sounds like a real grifter to me! Also, the entire time during his long winded video presentation, he can’t help but tell you all of his accomplishments over and over again. There are so many of these people out there now and you really have to be careful!
I'm so sorry that you feel miserable. Being constipated is a horrible feeling. If you haven't already tried this idea...Grandma wasn't wrong when she said, "A prune a day keeps the doctor away". Try either a 6-8 oz glass of prune juice every morning or mix it with 4 oz of coffee. Both stimulate the bowels. You may need a few days depending on how backed up you are.
Call the doctor you trust the most and share your concerns. There are medical conditions that can result from intestinal surgery such as a paralyzed illius that need to be addressed.
Never be afraid or embarrassed to discuss what is concerning to you. It's your life.
