Does Stem Cell Therapy work for Neuropathy?

Does Mayo Clinic use stem cell therapy for neuropathic issues? Have any of you tried stem cell therapy?

I have found articles on line and in the library regarding stem cell therapy for neuropathy, but most specify treatment for MS and stroke and of course diabetes. I am researching anything that will help me. I have found a clinic that will give me three infusions for 10 thousand dollars. They are up front and told me they have never given stem cells for what I have and may not work.

The only way stem cells work is if you mean to increase the bank account of the doctor. I paid 10,000 dollars 8 years ago. A con job to desperate people. Hope you get better.

You had a bad experience and you’re bitter.
I had a great experience and will do it again.

I had injections in my feet. After 72 hours I was hurting.
In one week I’m feeling no pain and walking is less challenging.

Do you have, PN in your feet? I had stem cell treatment. There were no injections. The stem cells were taken from my bone marrow and spun in a centrifuge and then back into my body via IV. What was injected into your feet? How much did you pay and/or was it covered. Where did the stem cells come from? I think you are confusing stem cell treatment with what you had. Finally, I am happy you got relief but I sense it wasn't Stem Cell Treatment.

I was injected with embryonic stem cells. Insurance does not cover it. It’s expensive.

I also had embryonic injections both in my hand & shoulder. Foe now, I have avoided shoulder surgery and it did alleviate pain. My hand was good for 2 yrs. I just recently had a 2 nd injection in my right hand. I'm 77 & want to avoid surgery. There is a well known stem cell facility here in IL called TruStem Cell therapy and people have had wonderful experiences there!

Hello @dsemloh, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. As promising as stem cell research is for a lot of things, I don't believe there has been any successful treatments for neuropathy. There are also some warnings about all the stem cell clinics popping up.

I’m not aware of any new information or studies.

Hon Bishop is correct. This is still experimental and not covered service by any insurance to my knowledge. There is still no conclusive evidence that this works, yet! I’m always open to new science.

Has anyone ever investigated SCT for neuropathy or had a discussion with their doctor about it?
