Grover's Disease: What works to help find relief?

Posted by 43219876x @43219876x, Sep 23, 2016

I have been diagnosed with Grover's disease under my breasts. I had a biopsy for diagnosis. Tried topical ointment with no really good results. Any ideas?

Can I add almond milk or oat milk to the cilantro smoothies?
My biopsy came back as Grovers last week.. my dermatologist said she’s not 100% that is true.. suggests I go and see a allergist. Im so itchy, tired, and irritable. Prednisone 20 mg a day, zyrtec, and Benadryl nightly. I cant sleep and the itch is unbearable.

I HAVE SUFFERIN WITH GD THE BETTER PART OF 6 MONTHS, I AM 63-YEAR-OLD VERY FIT W/MALE WORKING IN A MAX PRISON FOR A LIVING. I WANTED TO SHARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT HAVE WORKED FOR ME DEAL WITH GD. NOW I AM NOT SAYING THESE THING WILL WORK FOR YOU, BUT THEY HAVE HELPED ME DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM IN A WAY THAT IS COST EFFECTIVE, AND GIVE ME THE MOST BANG FOR MY BUCK PLUS USE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF MEDICATIONS AND DRUGS. I TAKE A SIMPLE APPROACH AND PLAY THE CARDS I HAVE BEEDN GIVEN.
1. WILLOW BALM (amazon)PAIN OR ITCH LOTIONS AFTER STEPS 2 AND 3. GIVES 8 TO 12 HRS OF NO ITCH SO YOU CAN SLEEP.
2. WAL-MART CHARCOAL FACE WIPES=2 TIMES DAILY MORNING AND BEFORE BED.
3. HYDROGEN PUROXIDE= WIPE DOWN AFTER THE CLEANING WIPES MORNING AND NIGHT.
4. REMEDY TEA TREE LIQUID SOAP (amazon) WHEN I SHOWER AND A LOFA TO SCURB MY BACK DAILY FOLLOWED BY PUROXIDE AND WILLOW BALM OR THE PRESCRIBED LOTION FROM THE DERMATOLOGIST DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF DISCOMFORT I AM DEALING WITH.
5. I DON’T TAKE AND ORAL MEDICATIONS AS MOST WERE NOT EFFECTIVE AND THEY HAVE SIDE EFFECTS I DO NOT WISH TO DEAL WITH.
I HOPE THIS WILL HELP SOMEONE AS IT HAS HELP ME, I AM PLAYING AROUND WITH OTHER NATURAL SOLUTIONS AND WILL POST MY RESULTS WHEN I AM FINISHED.

I WOULD LIKE SOME INFORMATION ON UVA/UVB TREATMENTS OR USING TANNING BED TO HELP WITH THIS CONDICTION. IF ANYONE HAS HAD ANY SUCCESS WITH LIGHT THEROPY.

I have been using Photo Therapy for the past several years and it works very well. I was diagnosed in 1976, and have seen many dermatologists. Most just shrug their shoulders at GD, but the VA Medical Center in Philadelphia was the only organization that tried Photo Therapy, and it worked—for me!

I feel your Dermo could be right regarding seeing an allergist as in my experience and that of many others who suffer from GD, Prednisone should definitely give you relief from the itching.

Seems like you have a fresh view of what may reduce itch, even if it’s not forever. Worth trying. Thanks.

Two months ago I too was diagnosed with Grover's Disease. It is VERY itchy. Is your Grover's very itchy? It's so itchy, and it's worst in the evening, so I can't help but think it could be scabies. However, two biopsies have come back negative for scabies and "consistent with Grover's disease". A 20 day course of prednisone did relieve the itch quite a bit and the rash got better and almost went away. But it came back once I was off prednisone. I am on a topical steroid that helps with the itch for a while, then it comes roaring back. What to do?!?!

Hi zeke I,m stan I,ve had GD for 6 yrs for the first couple of yrs I really thought about shooting myself, This crap broke out all over me started on my lower back and then went everywhere.I had a hell of a time trying to sleep. I live by myself so I used a 3in paint roller to put meds on my back, I came across a OTC that really works for me it,s Iverest, the cream not the spray. It,s messy but once it drys you can get to sleep. It cost about 5 bucks a tube I use about a tube a day,If you try it there,s a coupon on the inside of the box for a dollar.
It may not work but it,s worth a try I hope I,ve helped you. Best of luck Stan GDgd

Worked for me for 13 years. 2008 to 2021. Just slowly quit working. Now using Hydroxyzine to get some sleep but I itch going to sleep and still itching when I wake up. Best lotion I've found is Eucerin Itch Relief. Just started using Eucerin Calming Body Wash in shower. No conclusion there yet. Thinking about the cilantro capsules (can't stand taste of cilantro).
