Have u found any help? I've been going on 4 yrs also and I've seen 6 different drs at Mayo and they just dismiss me. I think they just don't want to deal with it. I begged my primary for the medicine albendazole cuz I've tried everything else without a prescription and he wouldn't. They are in every part of my body now and getting to end of dealing with this alone. I have probably 1000 pics and are pretty disturbing. I don't know how I've lasted thru this without losing it totally. I am going to a different emergency ward in the next couple days. Sick of trying to be my own surgeon and wearing gloves 24/7. I have found I was contaminating my own food by touching it with bare hands. I will try and let u know what happens.

Anyone have River Blindness in Southeastern US?

I have been dealing with a disabling and debilitating Parasitic ailment for more than 5 years now.

Started with tremendous hair loss and a scab on the outer corner of my left eye that couldn’t be removed. Also, Visible bugs Deep under dermis. And darker colored hairs than my natural hair color around these insects deep under skin. Have developed leopard spots and thin crepey looking skin on lower limbs on arms and legs.

As I am ONLY on Medicaid, and already on all types of meds due to seizures and resulting bone fractures, I have been prejudged as a drug seeker or someone with delusory parasitosis.

Specialist after specialist do not seem to have enough empathy to actually LISTEN to me. Much less diagnose me and help heal me properly. They will not view my thousands of pix of the striped large insects that are ejected in my stool (only during certain cycles of life stages.

I’m under age 50, female & Ive had part of my lung removed and have Glaucoma in one eye already. Not to mention several broken metatarsal bones in one foot. My teeth are now falling out. They are black!

I’ve resorted to taking canine versions of Ivermectin matching my weight every 4-5 months with Gawd Awful side effects.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to route my way thru this medical world, to find a tropical neglected disease specialist, an epidemiologist, who’s willing to diagnose me and properly eliminate the adult worms? I need at least 4-6 weeks of Doxycycline to eliminate the adult worms.

I am ready to end my life over this bloody horror & travesty of inaccurate & indifferent medical specialists.

Please—I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I WANT MY LIFE BACK!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you 🙏🏻

Mites......they can be dust mites or scabies.....in hair and on your skin ....look like tiny scabs? Then it could be scabies....contagious.....go to dermatologist to confirm. Dr takes skin sample and sends it to lab....

@sarat1

They not only look like hair..... They look like filmentous hyphae or dog hookworms. Or even filmentous anctinobacteria. There is a lot more to it. Mine started in July. I still can't even catagorize them as ameabo, works, fungus, or large bacteria. Craziest thing I've ever seen

Look at pics of mites.....Mites can take a worm-like appearance and live under, on your skin......go to detmatogist and ask them to run your skin sample to determine type of parasite....

Hello @wendybelike and welcome to Connect.

I can hear the concern in your post about parasites. I tried researching a bit about parasites that resemble hair and it does seem that there are some out there, but not being a medical professional myself I do not feel comfortable sharing information from sources I am unfamiliar with.

I have also included Mayo Clinic's page on Infectious Disease that also includes a link to request an appointment and a second opinion should you seek one, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/infectious-diseases/symptoms-causes/syc-20351173.

If you feel comfortable sharing, could you tell us a bit more about what you think they are? You mention they look like hair, are they causing irritation on the scalp? You also mention that doctors have not been of any help, did they run any tests or take any samples?

Hi Justin,
My doc suggested a doc in st Louis that is >$2000 and not covered by my awesome insurance:(
I have seen many postings r/t parasites and medications from Mayo so I thought I would make an appointment there.
I'm so sad to read people are not taken seriously when they are seen there. I am educated, perceptive and cannot lie.. something about my face gives me up every time. I have gross parasites, kids, grandkids and bills to pay, so I have no time to make up pictures or the bizarre things that have come off of my body - that are unrealllll to me! Actual, tactile things that no doctor wanted to look at under a microscope? why?
I'm sure ppl had COVID for months before some doc defined it. They had to acknowledge that their negative testing and progressing symptoms meant there REALL WAS something going on.
A 50 y/o MAN tested negative 4 times but his SX progressed...
they acknowledged their test wasn't working so they figured out they needed another way to get the right diagnosis and did an invasive test.
This reminds me of the always a negative O&P sample an AI cannot identify. As the patient gets progressively worse all doctors refer to the 1 worst test in the world as the official end to their testing. How are these double standards acceptable?? Who cares if ANYONE has parasites. It's a medical issue. WHYYY isn't a picture or tactile thing proof? Sores on people are not normal. Just like anything initial testing can't find.. work hard to figure it out for your human being.
All of that aside..
I think I know the hair and Amoebas interrelate? (I don't know what class they are in, but they look like Amoebas to me).

Is Mayo a good place to go? Will they treat me like a human being? I am happy to have a psych eval. I've a counselor and psychiatrist for 4 years- for my add meds, but now additional meds to help me sleep instead of lay awake an feel things crawling on me.

This is America. Not a third world country! Hospitals treat homeless people for everything, but banish/shun/belittle human beings for saying they have parasites?? unreal to me.
I see 'markings' on about 80% of people just walking around... so maybe the medial community should start to notice the 'bedbugs' that aren't really bedbugs?? All the dermatology issues women cannot get diagnosed??? The increase in cancer cases in younger and younger patients... parasite cells resemble CANCER cells..

It's just a medical condition that the doctor isn't familiar with. Like COVID was a condition no one knew about... until it was a pandemic.

Hello Wendy and Justin…. I am dealing with same issues and been misdiagnosed. Ow for 6 years! Finally, I have several specialists that see what I am dealing with and the size of these. The long hair like parasites are strongyloides…. And it seems like nothing truly kills these! But what I do and it seems to help in my situation is adding tea tree oil to my shampoos and conditioners. I’ve had to cut my long strands of beautiful thick hair due to these creatures too. I think they also refer to them as “horse hair”.

The parasites do not look like hair but usually have a hair with them ; they look like tiny bugs just under my skin

Does anyone know what parasite has a bird like head and some of them are spotted worms? I also have white patches with tails and dots in them on my arms and some on my legs that appeared one day. Anyone familiar with that? Help!
