Symptoms throughout the day: A pattern is emerging

Posted by prancer20 @prancer20, Jan 11, 2023

I am 5 weeks post covid positive test and I find that there seems to be a pattern emerging. I feel okay most mornings (especially after eating), okay until the mid to late afternoon and then some days I crash. I get tired and sometimes get those pesky palpitations and light headedness. After dinner, I feel a lot better again, and after a hot shower generally even better. This happens even if I have a mid afternoon snack. I also seem to have better blood pressure readings in the evening. has anyone else experiences this?

My primary doc explained yesterday that the WHO considers symptoms to be "Long Covid" after 12 weeks post infection. So I have 6 weeks to go before the Scripps Clinic will accept me. I hope that the symptoms will be subsiding by then! Only time will tell. I had a good day yesterday, not so sure what today will bring.

Thank you, but it's very unfortunate that you did not have that option. From what I am have be told they are going to start allowing insurance to be used in some cases. We have such a long road ahead. I go tomorrow to the gastro to have 5 and I mean 5 gastro test done at the same time. Just to save me a few bucks and only have me under 1 instead of?
3 ,4 or 5.

Yes, I see a pattern emerging. I have been “off” since late November. I am a in a dense fog when I get up. It lasts for the full morning. I usually have about a 2 hour opening of thinking clearly, although I still have problems with planning, follow-through, sense of the passage of time. After my 2 hour opening, I am mentally done for the day. I feel exhausted.
As for fatigue, I am tired all day. I have no energy to carry out daily routines. When I tried walking as a way to increase stamina, I found that when my heart rate goes up, I get light-headed.
I have joint /muscle pain intermittently. It will keep me awake all night, then totally disappear. Same for getting into a standing position and walking with a straight back. Sometimes this problem lasts for a few days, then not at all.
I do see some progress in recent weeks. I had shortness of breath on minor exertion (making my bed). That is no longer an issue. I used to be out flat all day and all night. I am doing better spending time doing things around the house, although I need to lie down and rest frequently.
Thanks for asking the question. It has helped me realize that I am headed in the right direction. I hope you have the same experience.

I hope you feel better. I have had severe long Covid for over a year now. My symptoms almost mirror yours in the beginning. I monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels and blood pressure- fluctuations occur frequently.
Unfortunately, I am still sick and have been trying everything under the sun. Coconut milk helped me feel rejuvenated when I was about to crash or when I felt the crash coming on. I also recommend CRYO Therapy- helps greatly with the inflammation.
I am grateful to have a neurologist that diagnosed me with long Covid from the start ( in the early stages of its discovery) I highly recommend finding a neurologist that takes Long Covid seriously. I thought I was going crazy with my symptoms- but the diagnosis put me at some ease. I would advise to be your own advocate- I have walked out of doctors offices- Find healthcare professionals that have a holistic approach, treat you as a human being, and are not afraid to ask questions/try new things.
I quote my neurologist, “Any doctor that claims to know how to cure long covid is lying- we still are still trying to understand what Long Covid is.”

For reference- I am 34 years old and went from power-walking 10 miles a day, going to the gym and working a very demanding job to constant fatigue, unsteady on my feet, walk 3 miles and do yoga if I am lucky. I try to use my creative outlet as well. I am a different person, unable to work. I know this is not forever, but it feels like it.

I am sorry that Long Covid has had such a profound impact on you life. My experience, so far, pales in comparison. I posted on 1/18 about my current situation.

Questions: how did you find someone who practices holistic medicine? What is that person’s background? I prefer to find an MD, DO, PA, or ARNP…someone with traditional credentials who blends holistic with traditional.

How did you find a neurologist who takes Long Covid seriously? I am familiar with several neurologists in the area, who would not be a good match.

I have also found that shifting my lifestyle within my current limits is very helpful. I was stuck on being embarrassed about what I cannot do. My friends did not understand. I thought I was crazy. I am on a better track now. I have told my friends/local folk on a need to know basis. At least they now “get it” (kind of).

Thanks for your helpful comments. I wish you the best.

You know I guess that's the true meaning of long hauler we are hauling these burdens around for what seems to be more than a lifetime you know I took a stand this week and spoke out amongst many social media platforms about us being overlooked about how we need help how we need everyone to bring awareness to the seriousness of long covid how we need assistance so we can focus on healing and finding a solution to our ailment and I really don't know if it's helped or not but from what I've seen since then is a lot of information that I didn't know existed there is a website you can go to called long covid.org and it has a lot of information on there but again still nothing for the middle aged childless adult nothing besides food stamps and a bunch of scams my heart goes out to you I really hope today is a good day for you hearts and prayers
