Had not thought about appointment with neurologist, my GP didnt seem to interested and did not even want to see me when I told him, and he is in Kingsville, ON, and we have moved to Chatham which is over an hour away and have not found a doctor here yet.....will follow up on sites you gave me & thank you for your response..
Sheila, my insurance does not require that. I have a physicians referral to see a specialist, so find a good neurologist in your area, then hope you can get in to see them in the next couple of months! Good luck with that! Bcool123
AngieP - I too see a podiatrist every 9 - 10 weeks, my Medicare plan pays for the visit, and I have my feet examined as well due to my numbness, don't want to take chances. Podiatrist, my primary doc along with 5 other neuro docs all have given me the same answer, no cure for numbness due to PN and yes, bad balance is part of the picture. I do take many of the supplements that Mentor John Bishop has brought to surface which I feel help. One neuro doc in 2005 said to me "keep moving" and I took that as the best advice I ever got. Trust me, it is a struggle at minimum, but I feel necessary. I don't suggest this as somebody on the outside looking in without dealing with PN. For me, I have determined to keep a positive frame of mind and not fight this disease rather how to live with it. I am now in PT for balance therapy. Slight help so far with balance.
I guess I should have explained more: I am 87yo , in 2018 while on vacation in Canada, I tripped and broke my right hip. The Canadian Dr. said my socket wasn't arthritic so she didn't replace it??Since then I've had back problems?? due to hip?? anyway have had a back operation to remove bone fragments?? Have gone to many Drs. including Dr, An, neurologist and had all the tests. Bottom line??? PAD and Neuropathy. If anyone at this point has a solution, please let me know. Thank you
I should have explained more: I broke my hip on vacation in Canada in 2018. I am 87 yo. I had a partial hip replacement at that time. The Dr replaced the hip/ball, but not the socket, as she said there wasn't any arthritis in the socket. Started w/feet feeling like stepped in glue/dried on feet. Drs, including neurologists now say bad back? Ok so, back operation, cleaned up the bone around L3/L4. According to my GP and other Drs. it's PAD and neuropathy.
I wish that were true for me. I've been to four in LA. All the "remedies" have been palliative. And these were the top-ranked hospitals in the US. Feeling like I am completely f*cked now.

Hi njed, I was told the same thing nothing for numbness. It's very hard for me to walk because of my lower back pain I have had for many years. I'm going to go and get fitted for a lumbar back brace and instead of my cane use walker when I walk. Since it's so cold here after I get my gear I thought about going to the inside of the mall to walk. I sure hope it helps. Good Luck to you!! Angie

Angie - I have spinal stenosis, narrowing from L-4 to S-1 and knee issues and orthopedic surgeon will not replace knees because if I were to fall, major issues. Over the years, sports and jogging has taken its toll. Getting jell shots in knees and cortisone shots helps somewhat. Yet, I push myself to walk. In dead winter, I walk inside house and my office. Mall is terrific idea. I live in small beach community, no malls within 30 miles. Before walking I use topical cream with Lidocaine. We all have to figure out what works best and keep moving. Ed

Mine developed after total knee replacement. I'm on Gabapentin 100 mg at bedtime. I also have RLS which is much worse at night and creates anxiety and insomnia. I just had a
Knee arthroscopy in other leg and now having foot neuropathy with that leg with increased symptoms of RLS. Ambien works best for me but I try to take it only twice a week.

I had pain in one knee especially when going up steps. I got stem cell shots in that knee several years ago and have had no pain since.
lecowing - interesting, thanks for the tip. I see my doc next week and will ask him about this. Appreciate the info.
