Neuropathy Pain at Night: What helps?

Posted by Donald @donfeld, Jun 8, 2020

THC or marijuana for me relieves pain from neuropathy. It works every time takes a few minutes and a few puffs of smoke and it comes it down for some crazy reason that makes this drug so popular.

Sabrina, my Dr also told me to try(Vitamin) Alpha Lipoic acid 600 mg 2 daily per day. In fact, I am waiting for my shipment today. I have also found that sleeping with socks helps keep my feet warm and I have seen improvement during the day. I hope that these suggestions may help you get through the day better. Good luck, Jack

Someone on this Mayo Clinic too,d me about a lotion called Life Flo. I never found it at Walmart so I ordered it online. The best stuff ever. It is a thick magnesium lotion, so it only takes a little. Rub it in good and it stops the pain immediately. It lasts 4-6 hours. He also told me about Frankencense and Myrrh. You might good them for where you can find them, I will not run out. I call it liquid gold. I rub it on every pain I have. I LOVE it. Good Luck.

@donfeld, You will notice I changed the discussion title to more reflect the topic and help members find your discussion. You mentioned in another discussion that you slept in a recliner and the night pain went away. Do you still find that helpful to reduce or make the pain go away?

I have lymphedema and my right leg tends to swell up during the day even though I wear compression socks to help with the lymphedema. I put a pillow under the mattress at the bottom of the bed to elevate my legs slight and help with the fluid retention and swelling. I've read where other members have used blanket and sheet tents to raise the sheets off of their legs to help with the pain they feel when the sheets touch their legs. There is another discussion you might find helpful if you have similar problems with fluid retention.

@jeffrapp @rwinney @jimhd @artscaping may also have some thoughts about neuropathy pain at night and what helps.

In hospitals they use a device that is a half circle and attaches to each bedside at the foot. It allows the sheets to be elevated off your feet and lower legs. I’m certain a medical supply store would find one for you or the web.

I take gabapentin and nortryptiline before bed and it eliminates all pain. I have tried marijuana in different forms and it does nothing for pain. Aleve helps and on a few bad nights I use Percocet. Bedtime was always the worst time for me but the gabapentin and nortryptiline are life savers.

My neuropathy, related to back problems, is much worse at night when I get into bed, also when I spend long periods working at my desk. I find that a cold pack helps reduce any swelling as well as 15 mgm THC edible at bedtime. Does not reduce all of the numbness through the night but lets me get a decent nights sleep. Occasionally get an extreme painful cramp/spasm? on the outer part of my right foot and calf which means I have to get up in the middle of the night and move around. I will try the tumeric as well as raising my legs to hopefully release the back muscles.

I find that a couple big puffs of smoke from a little pipe it's an instant result. It seems to immediately reduce the tingly and just call me down so I can tolerate it and it also makes me very sleepy. Hallelujah. Thank you God for making this medication that's so natural without any side effects. Smoking the stuff for 40 years going strong as it solves all my stomach pain and other issue problems. Had cancer and is great with chemo!

I am just like you...been doing it since the 60's. It helps me get to sleep along with some Gabapentin. Seem to wake up with no pain.
As the day goes on I start to feel numbness like duct tape on the bottoms of my feet.

I got this stuff in Arizona at a swap meet in Mesa called Chi Body Lotion. It seems to cool the effect for a time, but only for awhile. It is advertised as "Accupunture in a bottle". It's expensive. 30oz bottle is $150. 2oz is $20.

I keep posting this people are going to think I get paid by saying this but binaural beats by GOOD VIBES and NINAD music and others play sound therapy music. People in the comments swear by it. they say it helps their pain. I use it, it calms me but I believe some healing is happening. Try Nerve regeneration videos and put on headphones or not and see what happens. Hold onto hope because it is there!

I use a shower seat and small plastic foot stool to keep my feet out of the water. Works for me.
