I had horrible burping and nausea (but I was hungry). About a month ago stomach pains started. Turns out, I have a stomach ulcer, which I’m sure the long Covid had a part in.

I have been nauseous the entire time( which will be 4 months on January 5th). I am having to force myself to eat & have lost 20 pounds. I hated ginger prior to COVID but now am on my 4th box of ginger tea.

Yes, I had almost constant nausea and lots of digestive issues. Based on what I learned from this blog and related articles, I tried various foods and strategies and kept notes. I started out on what was basically the BRAT diet plus baked chicken and chicken broth. The items I gradually added that worked for me are Phillips Colon Health probiotics, goat yogurt, goat milk (I used to drink lactose free milk but that started to upset my stomach). Then I gradually added back the healthy foods I used to eat such as Kellogg's All Bran cereal, oatmeal, eggs, salmon, meats, fresh fruits & vegetables and moved away from the rice, applesauce and toast. Hope this helps.

Anyone lose their appetite totally? If my appetite doesn’t trigger to eat and if i forget to eat, I can go a couple of days without it. Not sure if I are today. Lost 60 pounds. , which isn’t healthy.

Yes my husband has. He is a year post COVID and just doesn't feel like eating and when he does he is almost immediately full. down 40lbs
Very discouraging. Have had every procedure and lab done deducted to long COVID.

Yes, I'd lost 50 pounds since 2020 due to lack of appetite. I can taste and smell fine, just does not translate to appetite. The gut-brain connection is broken. I can look at a delicious meal and feel nothing. My stomach never growls from hunger. I have to force myself to eat. Initial effort to gain focused on protein, but I kept losing and was told to add Carbs and healthy fats. Bottom line, do whatever you have to do to trick yourself into eating -- you're the only one that can do it. Find a balance of foods that are more tolerable or easier for you to take in. Whatever works for you. For example, since Covid I can still eat vanilla yogurt, but have a hard time eating fruit flavored yogurts. I can still eat chicken, but don't care for beef any longer. After finishing as healthy a meal as I can tolerate, I have started to reward myself with some form of dessert I can tolerate, like cookies &/or ice cream. I can maintain or put on weight, but it is work.

Does anyone else out there have lack of appetite but still have sense of smell and taste ? My sense of smell and taste are fine, I just have no appetite, and when I do eat I feel full right away (early satiation). I have lost 50 lbs since Covid in 2020. My doctors ask if I can smell or taste, as if that is the only way Covid could case loss of appetite. I suspect some of us have lost our appetite but still have sense of smell and taste intact. It feels like the brain-gut connection is broken. I don't receive signals to eat, or I no longer recognize them.

I never lost sense of smell or taste. Sometimes when I smell
something cooking I get some appetite but the majority of the time I don't have an appetite and therefore force my self to eat.
