Oral lichen Planus: What home remedies or medications help you?
Anyone in the group suffer from Oral Lichen Planus. I am at my wits end with all these erosive sores in my mouth. I've had two biopsies , one in the inside cheek and one under the side of my tongue. The spot under the tongue is extremely sore to touch and has been for over a year. It scares me because the soreness never goes away, sometimes it isn't as sore but nothing helps. Any home remedies for this dreadful condition?

Does that include laser treatments?
I don’t know.
My dermatologist for my lichen sclerosis prescribed me some mouthwash called DexAMETHasonee It has helped immensely. It is a rx but not outrageously expensive. I hope this helps.
@willows visits to dermatologists are covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), but not the medications/steroid injections.
I am 65yrs old. I too have Oral and Vag LP. This past year I was having challenges with what appeared to be a dry esophagus. Thus often had to drink water after I ate something. I had and endo preformed & I do not have LP in my Esophagus, but I have acid reflux. I thought it odd since I never have any acid reflux that comes up into my mouth. The GI Doc explained that everyone has some degree of acid reflux and mine has not gotten to the point of coming all the way up my esophagus yet, but is coming half way up causing the irritation. Prescribed Prilosec, but I am watching what I eat as I do not want to be on another med & I have read that Prilosec is not good for peops with LP.
There is a great book called The Elimination Diet which is what I useing to figure out what was irritating my stomach. Also seeing if this helps my Oral LP as well. I wish you luck 🙂
I didn’t find out until too late that ppi’s like Prilosec can be bad for your liver. You are right to be cautious. I have had sinus issues and hadn’t considered gasses from my digestive system as a cause until I did some research. Diet and intermittent fasting has given me some relief, but not a cure.
Thank you for your reply. Such a frustrating disease! Take care!!
I swish & spit it out 3Xs a day for my mucous membrane Pemphigoid & it keeps it at bay.
I have gastric reflux and was told that I could develop Barrett’s Esophagus.
I was put on PPP’s and had multiple issues with them so I stopped them. We adjusted the head of the bed, used wedge pillows etc. I ate dinner early nothing to eat after 5:30pm,
Well long story short, Aloe Vera gel 30 cc before bed seemed to work the best.
It can cause loose stools but it seems to work for me.
I hope you find a way to bring comfort.
Best wishes to you, Jillie
Hi there
I am so glad that Aloe has helped you.
I have had the same issue for few years and was told the same by the dr.
I was on ppi as well which caused me to have kidney problems. I stopped it altogether went cold turkey. I tried himalayan salts for a few days to stabilize my alkaline. At first I was sceptical but it really helped.
Now I am seeing a homeopathic dr once a month and I feel like I can actually get up everyday and have the bare min pains.
I really hope this helps you!
Best wishes
