Has anyone experienced internal vibrations?
I started having the only way I can explain it is internal vibrations. I've had them for 3 months now, I went to t hihe ER and they told me it was anxiety. A doctor diagnosed me at a clinic as having Lyme disease I've started a 21-day prescription of Doxycycline I'm on day 7. I went to a psychiatrist a week ago to get something because of my nerves are just over the brink. He prescribed me Gabapentin and Valium I've only been on them a few days.
Has anyone experienced these internal vibrations?I have them almost 24/7 chest neck stomach from the hips down. I have more lab tests that should be in today, but the doctor's office said that they would not call unless there was some abnormality in the lab work.

Hi I'm a 46 year old woman diagnosed first with peripheal neuropathy from an EMG 5 years ago when my thumb would stop shaking and my hands were burning. Since then the burning and numbness can be felt across the tops of my shoulders, my forearms and my calves. I get a tight feeling around my calves and if I'm wearing pants 10x too small. He put me on tegretol. I then got a few headaches a few dizzy spells and now nystagmus. MRI showed Hypersensitivity spots in the brain but said he ruled out MS. Next he said BPPV I went to physical therapist they didn't see BPPV. Next I got internal vibrations. I had a massive panic attack and 2 days later they appeared. My insides shake. It affects my calves my arms, chest and head. These vibrations are mainly when I wake up every morning or they wake me up during the night. The only ones I feel when resting awake are in my calves. I have asked my neuro is it MS is it Parkingsons he just says you don't have MS or Parkingsons right now. ...its small nerve fiber neuropathy office diagnosed I never had a punch biopsy as he said they are 50/50 for results.
He claims It's Peripheal neuropathy and small nerve fiber neuropathy Does anyone else have these same symptoms what was your diagnosis??
Hello @kfuentes21 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I am so sorry you have been experiencing all of this. You aren't alone in what you are describing as there have been other members who have shared similar experiences.
You will notice that I have moved your post into an existing discussion on the topic of Internal Vibrations so that you can more easily connect with others and read what they have shared as well. You can find the discussion here:

1 ReactionI've recently been diagnosed with HSD and Fibromyalgia. I'm unsure what causes it but the only way I've been able to describe it is that my body feels like one of the hula girls on someone's dashboard. It comes and goes. When it subsidies I'm left with this tingly feeling all throughout my body. I find that when I'm in a heated pool that my body starts feeling normal again. Breathing, meditation, exercise/stretching also helps. I'm not sure but I think it has alot to do with the CNS and the ANS going haywire.
Hello @kfuentes21, welcome. I'm Rachel, its nice to meet you. I've been where you're at and am real sorry you are experiencing these neurological disruptions. I know how dismantling the variety of symptoms can be physically, emotionally and behaviorally.
Yes, I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy via skin punch biopsy and what you describe is what I also struggled with. I was ironically 46 as well and had a plethora of tests to rule out auto immunes and everything under the sun. How do you feel about your doctors plan? Do you feel you should have further testing like a lumbar puncture?
There are two sides of testing -
1. The negative effects continued testing can have on your body by causing a stir up to the central nervous system which in turn creates an uptick in neurological symptoms and emotional distress. If a doctor is very experienced, they may feel strong about how they see it and try to reduce what they feel is unnecessary testing.
2. On the other hand not all docs are correct or go the extra mile. At the end of the day it comes down to your gut and your trust in your doctor. If you have doubt or concern and need to satisfy yourself then you have every right to seek a second opinion or request more from your current doctor.
What are your thoughts?
Has anyone been told it’s due to the vegus nerve overstimulation? Sugar and caffeine make it worse also carb intake.
If I eat low carbs, no sugar (no sugar in any form not artificial sweeteners); It helps.
I notice them at night when trying to go to sleep but also when sitting still. I think they come when I’ve not eaten enough protein and ate mostly carbs.
I know what low blood sugar shaking feels like and this is not it. It’s an internal shaking similar to a cat purring in my core. It will wake me up in the middle of the night if I haven’t eaten enough protein or the protein had been digested.
I really get them if I drink a full sugar soda especially if has caffeine.
Any part of your body can be affected since your vegus nerve is through out your body. It’s your nerve system in your body.
My heart doctor just told me to limit caffeine and sugar. It does help. I think over time it can escalate so it would seem that it can become more and more sensitive over time if not controlled.
I do take 5 mg Bystolic because it helps me be less anxious. I’m not on any other meds and do take vitamins and do more natural type and f treatments.
Since there can be so many variations of symptoms no one is identical.
I do not believe it has anything to do with anxiety and is fully due to diet.
Have you tried low carb, no sugar or caffeine? It helps me. I have been told it could be my vegus nerve overstimulation. Vegus nerve is all the nerves throughout your body. I have posted more info.
Did the doctor at the clinic test you for Lymes, or was it just his theory. Doxycycline is a strong antibiotic for Lyme's and other things. The gabapentin is for nerve pain. Valium is obviously for anxiety.
Go to a good Rheumatologist and have him/her do a lot of testing via blood and other stuff. Just to make sure… To rule out other stuff.
Good Luck…I hope you feel better soon 🙏🏻
Can you tell me more about how it was resolved?
Where can I find more info on what you posted? Is working with the vagus nerve helping with your vibrations?
I have the same thing! The internal vibrations and tinnitus came on at the same time. Have you figure it out yet?
