Success with low dose naltrexone for Autoimmune disorders

Posted by julie868 @julie868, Feb 13, 2020

Low Dose Naltrexone, otherwise known as LDN, seems to be helping a lot of people lately who have all different types of autoimmune disorders.
The information I read sounds very interesting and would like to know if anyone has tried it personally?

The theory that I read says that many autoimmune issues are caused by a deficiency in endorphins, endorphins regulate the immune system. LDN temporarily blocks the body's natural endorphin production for a few hours, this tricks the body into thinking it needs to increase endorphin production. When the blockade wears off, all the endorphins are released into the body, regulating the immune system and providing natural pain relief for the rest of the day. Apparently, LDN can increase your endorphins by up to 300%

LDNscience.org has a lot of information and research about it. You can also look at the writer, Annie Habler (@hablerannie) on Medium.com who wrote an article recently about the fascinating background and history of LDN.

Please let me know if you have tried it and what your experience was like. If you could let me know any details your condition, the dosage you used, any side effects, etc it would be helpful.

Thank you!

MCTD patient. I have been on LDN for 6 months with a slow titration from 1 mg daily to 5 mg daily over a three-month period, then 5 mg daily at night. I have not had any improvement in pain and today asked my doctor if I could stop cold turkey because I have new significant health issues that have arisen since I started taking the medicine - although I cannot attribute it to this medicine. I have a new solid liver tumor, elevated VEGF, serum, and my internal tremors increased. I did not take my dose two days ago and the following day did not have a tremor and slept better than I had in months. If I can stop permanently, I will update this to let everyone know if stopping was helpful or hurtful.

Yes I experienced pain relief within 3-4 days of starting LDN. (Sjogrens related SFN, inflammatory arthritis, POTS).

I was working with anIntegrated Medicine doctor who was a big believer of LDN and I took it for a couple of years (I can't remember the dose) to treat my chronic sinus infections and asthma. I didn't have any side effects, but I'm not sure I noticed any real improvement either. I too, would love to hear others' experiences and wonder if I should start on it again. The doctor left the practice, so he wasn't around to order the prescription anymore, which is why I stopped using it.

I was just seen by a holistic provider regarding issues of an autoimmune disease ( poly myalgia rheumatica) as well as thyroid issues. She wrote this LDN on apiece of paper and gave it to me to “ research” and then in six weeks we will talk. Interesting it would come up on our chat line.
