Has anyone used Monolaurin for Epstein Barre Virus?

Posted by bayhorse @bayhorse, Oct 17, 2022

Have any of you used monolaurin for EBV? And if you found it effective, could you let me know what supplement brand you used?

Thanks!

Inspired Nutrition has an excellent enhaced monolaurin, which I was using along with (NOW) Lysine 500mg and (Swanson) Olive leaf extract 500mg, all three taken twice a day. I spaced everything out with a couple of hours between each supplement. Stopped post vax shortness of breath that had been present for 16 mos, appearing a couple of months after the Moderna vaccine 1. and lessened the degree of exhausting fatigue. Idon't think the brand of lysine and olive leaf matter, but the inspired nutrition Monolaurin worked better than two other brands 5 years earlier for treating shingles. The company has improved their Monolaurin formula since then, which I believe makes it superior to others. This protocol has helped others with EBV symptoms, and was passed on to me by a Mayo connect member. It may be wise to cotinue the Lysine long term paired with other plant antivirals on a long term basis because the EBV virus is so difficult to subdue. A good EBV resource is "Stuff that Works," an EBV support and research group. Wishing you success in your treatments and return to health.

Hi @bayhorse. No, I never had a doctor recommend it. I did take it for a little while, but it wasn’t helpful.

What helped me was following a neuroplasticity training program and working with a functional medicine doctor who gave me the supplements needed to support my poorly functioning adrenals. Since then, no more EBV (mono) recurrences, more energy, and improved anxiety.

Everyone’s situation is unique. Wishing you the best! 😊

I'm in a very similar boat and working with a functional medicine Dr as well. If you don't mind sharing, which supplements did you see the most benefit from with regard to your adrenals?

My daughter was diagnosed with EBV years ago when she was in 7th grade. She missed a semester of school. In years that followed she was diagnosed with mast cell activation and other disorders. In 7th grade the virus specialist in our city prescribed an antidepressant. I read an article about a person who had what was described as chronic fatigue syndrome who was helped with that treatment. The doctor said we would see if it would help. It did. She started to pull out of it. For several years after she would have sore glands if she did not get enough sleep. The underlying disorders were not diagnosed for decades.

Bovine adrenal cortex extract and DHEA. Of course not without doing testing prior to starting (4 point saliva test).

I am currently using monolaurin (Lauricidin brand), Black Seed Oil and Lycine for my epstein virus. I think it is helping.

@rosaw159 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! I’m so glad that you’re here found the sire. May I ask what you used the Lauricidin for? Was it for a health issue? I’m sure that other members of the group will want to know.

I used the monlaurin for immune support, gut support and it’s antimicrobial properties. It is an over the counter supplement.

Unfortunately Functional Medicine is not covered with insurance in my home state. I feel like I jump from different supplements to help my EBV, but not much helps. Any suggestions on supplements are helpful. Curious though; which one has served you the best for energy levels? Hoping everyone heals soon.
