Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
My husband was diagnosed 2 days ago with Right side CHF and he has to take Lasix everyday in addition to his BP meds. Anyone else has been diagnosed with this? Thank you

Important to check for any shortness of breath and increasing fluid accumulation in the legs as well
Thank you. I am doing that.
When my Mom had CHF, we were instructed to weigh her at the same time each day, and report any weight changes in excess of (I think) 5 pounds immediately to the doctor. Have you been given any such directive? At first on Lasix, weight should fall, then stabilize.

Yes he was prescribed a diuretic. Get his weight in the morning as soon as he wakes up. The weight change should be reported if is 2 lbs in 24hrs. His weight so far is in his usual pounds. After losing so much water his legs went back to normal and he can stand up better and walk short distances better. His BP x 4 id taken every day. Plus he is taking Lipitor. Thanks
Yes I delt with that for about 10 years, and the same as Suggested I also weight myself every morning, take my diuretic in the morning and try to plan my next 4 hours near bathrooms as I worked on the road and with driving long distance was always a challenge. Usually about 3 trips to the bathroom over a 4 hour period. And my weight check was 3 lbs in a day or 5 lbs over 3 days. Once I got stable the doctors would just let me up the dose if my weight went over 5 lbs and did not drop the next day.
I was not on Lasix tho mine was another one I don't remember now but very similar. If I can help with any questions please let me know
Did they say what his Injection Factor is? Typically to be called CHF its suppose to be less that 30% but I was even on it at 45 % due to rhythm problems also.

I was diagnosed with left ventricular failure in June this year was told to restrict my water intake to 1.5 litres in one day that includes coffee or tea water and even soups along with a low salt intake I am now feeling better not taking lasix but another diuretic spiromide your husband needs to have his potassium and sodium levels checked as a routine because of diuretics can cause an imbalance it’s nice to know that he is up and about even for a short duration movement is important together with weight loss for long term treatment I hope that he would go out for a walk May God grant you and your husband the strength to sail past this difficult time you can check out with your doctor for a cardiac rehabilitation program
I was diagnosed with left CHF 2 weeks ago. Have been on Diuretic and Entresto for 2+ weeks waiting on CT Calcium Score Scan and Follow-up with Doc. Seems everything takes so long and very little education is provided when first diagnosed. I have been worried, researching, scared, and more while I wait. Thank goodness for sites like the Cleveland Clinic.com and others to give me information. I find that Salt is the Killer and too much liquid intake. Such a lifestyle change. I think managing this newly illness is the hardest part … living with a chronic condition is hard enough with my past of chronic asthma and irregular heartbeat already. Just because it seems to be a common diagnosis nowadays isn’t good reason for doctors to treat it so lightly. I hope to get a nutritionist and I guess a fitness regimen. What do you all do?
Oh, I forgot to say in my Post that my ejection fraction was 45%.
Thank you for your help. I already had irregular heartbeat, and recovering from COVID which I think kicked this CHF into high gear. The sooner we get on meds maybe the better our heart is because it doesn’t have to work so hard. I do miss several cups of morning coffee though.
I posted below .. mine is left side though.
