Insomnia and depression

Posted by Iraku @iraku, Jun 21, 2012

I have noticed after the anti-depressant kicks in my insomnia has been slowly increasing. I feel wide awake for some period and then becoming so tired and thought that I could sleep but then when the light is off and I just slowly back to becoming wide awake again. I usually unable to sleep around mid night, the usual hour that I can fall asleep will moving away from 3 am to later and later. No matter how I tried to tired myself out and go to bed at normal hour, it won't happen. Please help!

Hi Iraku,
You are not alone. I have had insomnia for year's and it's not fun. It gets even worse when the depression gets worse and although I have been prescribed sleep medications none of them really work. Lately, I have been taking daily walks to try to tire myself out but I go to bed and wake up thinking of the events of this past year and no matter how tired I feel I still wake up during the night. I don't know what it's like to have uninterupted sleep.. I wish I could.
I am proud of you for posting your own discussion! It's a very good topic.
Hugs,

That's very good and very helpful to have a doctor who knows you. I am now looking for a new doctor and this one seems ok. finger crosses...

I had about 6 and a half hours sleep last night. I went to have a blood test too for the doctor wants to check why I'm tired. The blood test result should be ready in two days... I went to bed last night find it hard to sleep and I was aching a lot. This is the trouble I found when I have a full day of light activity, I did some gentle exercise in the morning It seems to help a bit with muscle pain when I'm sitting for a long time in front of computer (a few hours period). I'm going to do more of that today.

Acupuncture helps with aching so it helps when I can't sleep because of it. I'm trying to see how much it will have an impact on my fatigue. It may need sometime to see the result.

My hypothesis on the needles is that because it's a foreign object and it's conductive so when we have those needles into our muscle. The nerve cells are sending forth the signal to our brain and that creates the flows of the transmission between them. I could feel the pain increases and decreases, sometime the feeling of relaxation too. It's definitely have a direct impact to the nervous system in our body.

How're you today?

I think the body training is going well so far. I am still feel tired even though I have done not much during the day. I did some light exercise for 20 mins in the last two days. It helps with feeling a bit more flexible on my body but it definitely increasing my fatigue by the end of each day and when that happens my body seems to not able to rest. The medication is working well. I got 6 hours sleep and woken up by noise this morning and could not get back to sleep. I know that the sleeping is under the medication control and yet to be running by my physical respond to the sleeping time. I'm happy with the progress at this stage. Got to go and see the doctor now it's the blood test results from two days ago. I told there's nothing urgent but the doctor still wants to discuss about it.
