Transplant Rejection news

Posted by jackiez @jackiez, Jul 15, 2022

Well I knew the journey would have ups and downs. And after my 15 mos checkup at Mayo this week I found out my heart is good but my lungs are showing some rejection. I will be adjusting meds and going back in a month for another bronchoscopy. Such a bummer as things had been going so well. Needing to hear some success stories if you’ve had a similar setback and comeback. Thanks!

Hi @jackiez 😊
Good morning to you! I wanted to check back with you to see how everything was ultimately resolved. Did you have another biopsy to confirm that the early minor signs of possible rejection is now successfully under control?
What meds adjustments did your team make before and after the removal of Cellcept due to WBC issues? (I know this story ends wonderfully because you shared that beautiful fall horseback riding photo... Awesome photo Jackie!)
I know you are doing great, I just like to hear all the details of the meds adjustment journey since I am in my own "med adjustment" journey with my new BK virus.
I know you had two competing things: signs of minor rejection which needed a little more immune suppression and low WBC at .5 that needed less immune suppression (removal of Cellcept).
I like to hear about all of the meds and dosage details on how the team "tweaked" your cocktail to ultimately get you "back in the saddle". 🥰 Since this on-going rejection vs infection is our universal transplant challenge (and mine personally now).
Thank you for sharing; your posts are always helpful to everyone!

Thanks for the follow up inquiry. I am at Mayo this week. Bloodwork yesterday was good. WBC is ok. Bronchoscopy is Wednesday. So we’ll see how that goes. 🤞

Awesome news about the blood work and WBC @jackiez 😊 It sounds like my follow up timing was just a few days off! I will look forward to more excellent news after your Wednesday bronchoscopy. Do you fly into Rochester for your Mayo visit?

We drive about 4 1/2 hours. Easy drive. Unless it’s snowing!

@jackiez Oh, that's great! For some reason I thought you lived in New York and needed to fly. But your recent wonderful horseback post said Illinois so I thought maybe that was a summer home. It's very convenient to be able to drive to Mayo. I have a 4 to 5 hour drive to Mayo Florida...easy peasy with no snow! Here's to a good news visit at Mayo Rochester 😊
