Passing out Question
Hey everyone, I am a 19 year old almost 20 in 2 days. I am currently a college student studying wildlife and botany. But starting in January of this year I started passing out. It's now almost the end of May and I still am. Doctors have told me that I have vasodepressor syncope. They started me on a medication to try to help and it has been about a month and their is no diffrence. The doctors more in less said that is all that they can do. But its getting kind of crazy passing out at least once a day or more. I have had to quit my internship because of it and stop doing a lot of stuff. It's crazy I am a healthy person my whole life up until now and now my whole life is revolving around me passing out and I am only a college student. What I was wondering is do you all think I should go to the mayo clinic and see if they say anything diffrent? All I really want is everything to go back to normal. In between the passing out I feel light headed and dizzy but don't actually pass out and there is never any signs when I do pass out. Does this happen to anyone else? Thanks and I hope you have a great day!

Go to different Doctors - do not be happy with the first Doctor
I have been. They put a loop recorder in to monitor everything, so hopefully they figure out what is going on.
I was passing out for about a year and they found out I was hypoglycemic have u checked your blood sugar? Do you eat a lot of sugary foods before going to bed? Do you eat breakfast?
They have checked my blood sugar. They have did several blood tests. I usually eat breakfast everyday and sometimes I do eat sugary foods before bed. Thank You!
Your welcome and trying to avoid sugary foods before bed will probably help because when you eat something high in sugar or carbs your body releases insulin. When you go to sleep with the insulin running through your system, your blood sugar plummets potentially making the next day difficult as far a light headed ness and passing out goes. I don't think it would be a bad idea to monitor your blood sugar regularly for a couple of weeks to make sure things aren't fluctuating. A doctor can't tell if your blood sugar is changing unless you monitor it on a regular basis. Also I know how you feel with all of this. I have gone through very similar things.
It sounds like you have a low heart beat. I am 65 years older than you, but that was what was happening to me 2 years ago. Take yourself off to emergency right after it happens. It might be a good idea if you can get someone to drive you. There is an online group dedicated specifically to people with low heart beats who are wearing pacemakers. You would be amazed at who some of these people are. You will find there are people your age who are walking around with pacemakers.
Take care.
Passed out 3 times in 4 years and have loop recorder. When I called after passing out each time was told no episodes were recorded !
Please go see a cardiologist, that is a question they will ask “if you are passing out/ fainting”, it could be a heart condition. I get dizzy, lightheaded I was diagnosed with atrial ventricular Mobitz type 2 . Having to do with the heart beat electrical signals. I also have irregular ekgs. Rule out heart disease go see a cardiologist. Keep us posted.
Welcome @ativ1207 and @thyroid2023, Unfortunately this is a very old discussion and I don't think anyone is following it anymore. @mogirl92 last posted in 2017 and doesn't appear to be following Connect anymore. You might find the following discussions helpful:

I'm not a doctor and have no medical training but I also agree with @thyroid2023 about discussing your symptoms with your cardiologist or doctor as soon as possible.
I know you mentioned calling after passing out to find out what was recorded but did you discuss what happened with your doctor or cardiologist?
@thyroid2023 @ativ1207
It doesn’t seem that the loop recorders are reliable in recording your events.
I also think you have to report you passing out.
My husband just had a pacemaker placed due to type 2 heart block. Initially he did not need one, but the heart rate went haywire! He has a monitor that picks up abnormalities and sends them along.
