Diabetic Diet for type 2
I am tired of all the fussing with diabetic drugs. All it does is allow me to eat what I shouldn't be eating. I'm going to try and do it on my own again. My biggest question is how soon will the heart disease, neuropathy, kidney failure, eye problems, take effect if I just eat right and exercise? My doctor used the "fear" angle to get me to take the metformin to begin with. I know what to do. Just have to do it. I need support from you guys as not much help around here!!

Thank you for your reply. Sounds like you have a great plan!
Hi everyone for me I was diagnosed type 2 in july 2021 and I started the Mediterranean diet which is my plan of eating and in the first month I released almost 30 pounds but after getting my covid shot I ended up getting sick with the flu and gained some of it back due to water retention and dehydration. I believe the reason it worked for me is it kept from me snacking all the time because I was no longer hungry all the time. my sugars started going down but they went back up while I have been sick though.
I was Just diagnosed about 2 weeks ago with Type 2 diabetes, Nov ‘22, after being very ill for 2 weeks. I’ve lost 15 pounds.
The doctors believe Covid brought mine on, and I’ve yet to find a diet that would work with my Lactose Allergy ( not intolerance). No dietician advice yet. I don’t know what to buy and I’m scared to eat because of the pains In my stomach. Keeping to soft bland foods.
How could I find the diet you described?
I am to start the Type 2 Ozempic shots in a couple of weeks, when the doctor is available.
I do hope you start feeling better and get your sugars back in range for you.
I believe the best player for you along with your endocrinologist is your dietitian. He/she can guide you on a diet that should be safe for you. Mayo Clinic has a good assortment of dietitians designed especially for you or you can choose outside of Mayo. Wherever you go, have a team of docs in play such as your PCP and endocrinologist. I, personally, am getting acupuncture who also has a Ph.D. in Immunology from Vanderbilt. There is help out there for your disease, and be sure you check your lab tests frequently.
Thank you for your answer. I will keep this in mind going forward.
