Anyone else dealing with shingles?

Shingles is one of the most painful things that a person can have. I have had them several times as a side effect of some RA meds and it’s awful. But I have found and I found this medication quickly because I was on a shingles site like this. I take Acyclovir at the first sign at the first twitch that’s the secret. So far I have broken out on the side of my right neck and down my back. It’s blisters and if you don’t catch it quick and start on the meds you go through the full cycle. For me it lasted 6-8 weeks. weeks. Famciclovir, Valacyclovir are other medications you can take. No I am not a doctor but for the last four years I have fought these. I got the first Shingrix shot but not the second which was a mistake but I do believe I’ve had less breakouts.

I get shingles about every three months, instead of meds I use essential oil’s for the pain and rash which it’s usually calmed down in 3-4 days

Me too and going on 3 years with Trigeminal nerve pain and open wounds on scalp. Mayo offered nothing.

May I ask which oils helped with pain?

Bergamot, Lavender, Geranium, tea tree, Helichrysum, Peppermint and Frankincense mixture. And I use Thieves

My mother developed shingles after her Covid booster vaccine. She is convinced they are related. She has pain at the rash site, as well as nerve pain. She is miserable.

Im 67 years old and i had shingles before there was a vaccine. i worked in a group of about 30 people of different ages. We had all had the chicken pox with the exception of two people. their kids got chickenpox at school and brought it home. then our whole office caught it. if you had chickenpox yoy have built in shingles germinator. i asked as i got ilder about the vaccine and was told once you had shungles vaccine were useless against it. that nay be true for shingles once you have had chickenpox. over the years i gave gad a couple of breakouts but usually lasted just a week. so realize that your system is compromised now and you will be more susceptible to outbreaks.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom's bout with Shingles after her COVID booster. Did she discuss this with her doctor for an opinion about the booster and the Shingles being related? I'm also wondering how long ago the Shingles were diagnosed?

adltt123 I had the first shingles shot that came out about a few years ago, I never got
the two new shingles shot that came out. anyway, I am 82 I just finished up with the
shingles this week, and when it left me, all of a sudden my mouth started to burn and my
cheeks inside are swollen, right now I am using salt water to rinse in my mouth till I
go to the dentist Monday, I also wonder if this could be from radiation for my breast
cancer. but I finished that in Feb. Has anyone in this shingles group had this problem?
