Anyone else dealing with shingles?

Posted by oldkarl @oldkarl, Apr 20 12:18pm

I now have shingles. My inoculation this year did not work. In fact, I am worried that I was given something else, as my shingles started up about two months after the shot.

That is awful. I’m thinking it could of been a bad batch of vaccines. Some doctors give the paper inserts from the box of vaccines.
Do you know of anybody else who used the same doctor/clinic on the same day having the shingles shot?
Have
you contacted your doctor?

Good morning @oldkarl I’m so sorry you got the shingles even though you had the vaccine. That’s not totally uncommon, though, as vaccines are not 100% effective. Have you talked with your doctor about proper care of the lesions? I certainly hope it gets better soon!

Hello all. I am peach and I did not have the vaccine because my two endochronologist's told me not to. (I have many medical issues which forbids this.) Anyway I did get the shingles. Freezing, nausea with no vomiting, the rash, etc. I did not suffer to bad with this because the chronic venus insufficiency PAIN, PAIN, PAIN is so excrutiating it takes away the Shingle pains. The rash is quite painful. l have the Shingles for about two months now but do not worry about getting this. There are much worse medical problems. I am still waiting for the crusts to heal over the rash. But, do not take this to lightly as it can be serious depending on the many different patients and their many medical problems. What might be very important is: I looked up the symptoms on the internet and the different treatments because with this corona virus I did not want to expose myself by leaving the house and going to the doctor. If it would have gotten out of hand I most certainly would have gone to the doctor. Also there was no temperature. Keep your head and your mind open and smile when you hear the music. Love to all Peach

My doc said just to keep oiling the lesions, and hey would go away. They are going away slowly.

Yes, I have talked to the doctor, but no good response. I think I will just have to wait it out. I am now down to a pink area above the left eye and some shingles in the hair.

OMG! Go to the ER or call another md! There is medication available that works!! Also, after shingles clear up, there is a vaccine that will end further outbreaks! I feel your pain!

@asquires I’m just curious, why do you want him to go to the ER? He has spoken to his doctor and is slowly getting better.

I had the latest Shingles Vaccine and had bad side effects for 4 months. I should have researched first before taking it. The original vaccine with the live virus I had no problems, but the latest one, was a no go for me. Sorry I ever had it done!

If this means anything: I have been told by Endochronalogists that the Shingles vaccine can be a danger to certain people. Also can be deadly to others. Good luck Peach

First of all burning started whenever I laid down. From my feet straight up my whole body. Woke me up. Always started 1 -2 hours after going to lay down. Then my legs went. Couldn't keep my balance and hardly could walk. Then panic attacks that lasted all day. Didn't stop. I haven't had a panic attack in years and they never lasted that long. Double vision but not sure if that is related to the vaccine. Started in November and lasted until February then automatically stopped. Can walk now, etc. no panic attacks, or dizziness, no burning. I can't prove it was the vaccine but I'll bet it was. Had all kinds of neurological tests and Monday am going to get the results.

Hello All:

I am definitely a newbie to this whole Shingles diagnosis. Was just diagnosed a few days ago and I can say (very literally) that I feel your pain. As my Shingles started on my back laying down and sleeping has become a whole new experience. A lot of you have posted about Shingles on the face (which I'm glad I don't have) but wondering about Shingles on the back. Any pressure I put on my back (including laying down or being propped up in bed) puts pressure on these nerves and really causes problems. Walking tends to be the best position for me right now.

My PCP gave me an anti-viral med which made the sores dissipate completely within a couple of days. I'm wondering,@oldkarl if you have had an anti-viral drug, as you mention that you "oil the lesions?" For me, the anti-viral med worked very nicely to get rid of the lesions. Has your doctor ever recommended such a med?

At the ER last night I was given some prednisone. Anyone else treated with that? I slept for several hours without pain but then woke up and knew the med had worn off. I have several days of a prednisone pack so I hope it will help.

Has anyone been treated with Gabapentin for the Shingles pain? As Shingles pain is nerve pain, I'm going to ask for that next.

By the way, Shingles was not even on my radar as I've had all of the Shingles vaccines that are available including the most recent Shingrex that is given in two doses. I had this a year ago.

Looking forward to hearing from everyone who can help with this. Thanks for your posts so far. Always good to hear from others in the trenches, so to speak.

Thanks for sharing suck a terrible experience! I am sorry. Does the medical community recommend the shingles vaccine for 50 year olds? I know many friends you’ve gotten the vaccine.
