Help for employment loss or discrimination against COVID long haulers?

Posted by rbrzeg @rbrzeg, Nov 18, 2021

Is there an organization that will help with legalities regarding employment and discrimination against post covid patients?

I am an ER nurse, showed up from day 1 of the pandemic, saved lives & lost lives, literally in the faces of those infected, got sick with covid from working directly with covid patients. I lost my job & insurance & workman's comp because I can't return due to long covid. Who cares for the rescuers? This is no different than the first responders that walked into the Twin Towers, showing up in the face of catastrophe and doing their job. We need congressional support to care for the caretakers.

My story is exactly the same. Feeling your pain...literally and figuratively.

have any of you contacted your legislators? my daughter and her union have. I think the more voices they hear, from everyone and everywhere, the more response we will see.

I am almost the same. Trying to work at least part time do I can keep my insurance and workmans comp. It's so hard. My head hurts and I am worn out daily on top of muscle spams, eye twitching, body aches. Something had to be done

After 20 plus years of work my employer decided to "part ways" because of my long covid. I know that they could replace me cheaper than retain me. I have been long covid for almost a year and still struggle every day. Been trying to get disability and just keep getting put off.

It’s ridiculous I feel we have been discriminated against from the beginning. My insurance company refused to cover necessary diagnostic tools. Tell my cardiologist he need to perform a Cardiac Cath instead of the Cardiac MRI. I had to pay for my MRA And MRV out of pocket. I’m so sorry to hear about that but this is what happens to some of the most challenged patients. I think it’s important to share our stories. We all will be continue to face challenges due to the unknown longterm impact of COVID.

I don’t have to work but I can only imagine what it is like. People that have their bias against the significance of your struggle. Longhaulers deserve better. Literally equal treatment. At work and with in the health care system.

I have living with longhaulers since September 2020. It’s been the slowest and defining recovery of my life. I see you. We will all get better together sharing our experience and supporting each other. People can be @$$#0£€$

Understand it from all sides...Something needs to be done for sure in that you have long covid that has symptoms without any positive test results and no diagnosis, so employers can't randomly override benefits. It's one thing to have clinics treating, another to recognize it so it qualifies for let's say LTD benefits, and Soc. Sec. disability.
