Gratitude for this MAC group: Finding Gratitude Daily

Posted by thumperguy @thumperguy, Apr 20, 2020

All harnessed for another bumpy half-hour on my trusty nag. Though I don’t post a lot I never fail to think of all the good helpful people who are the backbone of this forum while I’m getting churned. Stay safe and spread joy. Don

I second the motion Don. This is a journey that I don’t want to walk alone. Just the other day, stumbling across a blog about amounts of sputum, I was thrilled. That is the kind of information I need! I am grateful for this space and all who stop by here to share their stories. And of course the mentors who advise us with their gentle wisdom.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped me through this maze of Mac issues when I was first diagnosed as an I approach another hurdle in the progression of this disease. You’ve made my life easier by enabling me to understand NTM and what I can ask (and expect from) my health care providers.

My apologies for the typos above.
I meant …when I was first diagnosed and as I approach another hurdle in the progression of this disease…

Sue, you asked, “have you put ole Thumper out to pasture for good?”

It’s enough to make one weep but truth is the storied Thumper is spending its days in a dark, lonely closet; an ignominious fate ushered to center stage by that impertinent late arrival, Nebbie the nebulizer. When word got out that when it comes to controlling MAC infections, sweet little Nebbie can “kick butt” by fogging out clouds destined for my lungs heavy laden with 7% saline.
Use lower saline strengths and MAC may point at you and probably giggle.
Amp up to 7% and MAC will likely head for the hills. I usually do it twice daily; keeps me out of trouble too except when I neglect to “pick up” after myself. Don

And the Thumper may deliver a “bronc”ride at the rodeo but it fell short of doing much to treat the real problem.

Don - it's so wonderful to hear your report. Who knew a little common salt could do so much?

I am grateful to thumperguy who gave me a recipe a long long time ago which I still haven’t made exactly according to how he laid it out however I do use those things whatever they’re called in salads and in my vegetables and some sort of meat and vegetable concoction, So it wasn’t a total waste of your time thumper. I’ll get around to the recipe eventually, hopefully.
