I have had RLS probably since childhood and it is "Painful"! My legs have hurt so bad that I have pounded them to mask the aching pain. I have been taking 5 mg of ropinirole (Requip) twice a day for about 10 years and it really helps with preventing the pain. Iron only helps if you had your level tested and it's low. A recent sleep doctor had me try gabapentin to get me off Requip and I spent several painful, endless, sleepless nights in pain. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it."
Mayo doctors have told me I'm low on iron. They told me to take just one bottle of an iron supplement and then stop. What part does iron play in controlling restless legs? At age 81, nothing seems to curb depression and I sympathize daily with anyone suffering alone and feeling lost

Our case study is similar. I, too, am 81 and have been told to take just one bottle of iron. If deficient in iron, why would't the deficiency continue to re-assert itself after one bottle? Unlike you, I have not had to have injections. I am trying, too, to fight depression and loneliness since my son died of pancreatic cancer. Suicide is appealing, because of my age and depression, but I do not want to demonstrate to my son's teenage grand-daughters that suicide is an option.

Do not give up @judithjoy. My grandmother was a great example in my life! She is still a major light in my life. For sure your granddaughters need you much.
My vibrations to you!

Thank you, Santosha. That is very kind of you. My grandchildren do adore me. But problem is that they are far away, but we can have FaceTime at least. Thanks for the encouragement.

My pleasure @judithjoy !
I also lived quite far away from my grandmother, she was in Germany and I and my parents in South America. In the 80s we did not have internet yet, so we exchanged many letters. The letters that were delivered on the day were the first thing I would check when coming home after school. Phone calls were quite expensive at that time, we did not have yet skype, whatsapp, zoom, etc. So just on special occasions, like birthdays. December was the month I waited throughout the year, as I would fly to Germany and stay with my grandmother for 2 months (my summer holidays). Even living in different countries and continents, I was very close to my grandmother, even closer than my German cousin, having learned a great deal with her. She has been and still is a light in my life!
Have a nice Sunday!

How lovely. So glad you were able to know your grandmother so well. The problem is with my daughter. It's odd, but she seems to resent it that her children want to spend time with me. She doesn't realize the importance of a loving grandmother in her children's lives. Thanks for the encouraging words.

@judithjoy, a grandmother is a mother as well and with much more experience. Sad that your daughter seems to resent that your grandchildren want to spend time with you. How old are they now?
