Rare serious side effect of Eliquis: Muscle weakness

I had a mild stroke a year and a half ago.
My cardiologist put me on Eliquis 5mg twice a day.
I encounted weakness in my legs, tenderness in my temples and a sense of waviness in my head (especially in the mornings).
After being on Eliquis for over a year and a half, a visit to an emergency room (due to a sickly feeling) resulted in my being taken off Eliquis and put on Xarelto 20mg once a day (actually in the evening along with dinner).
I have since not experienced temple and head tenderness and my weaken leg status has diminished.
I have only been on Xarelto for only two weeks so I don't know what time will tell.

I switched to a natural holistic blood thinner. prescribed by a practitioner. My doctor wanted to put me on xarelto which also has muscle weakness as a side effect. No thanks!! I went to a doctor who diagnosed "toxic myopathy" from eliquis, albeit reluctantly. This was almost a death sentence for me. I can only imagine someone without family support, they would be in a hospital for 3 weeks at least, and the doctors would deny the cause and keep feeding the poison to them.

Has anyone experienced the same leg pain and weakness taking xarelto

I was admitted to the hospital 4-1/2 months ago and put on eliquis after massive blood thinners. Since then my symptoms have increased five-fold. While climbing the stairs in our three-story house was an effort at the beginning and I started to pass out, I could at least do it. Now I cannot even climb one set of stairs, need to sit down immediately and wait a good while before going up the next and I need to do that ONLY once a week before heavy head pressure, starting to pass out, legs and arms feel like they're moving through muck, nausea, severe back pain. I cannot bend over without this issue nor can I take ten steps to the bathroom. I tried to get a shower a week ago and barely had my hair washed before having to sit on the bench and my husband had to practically lift me from the shower (I never got to scrub or clean) and get me back down stairs. The doctors (four of them) want to have me go to special imaging offices for more CT, MRIs, x-rays etc. after I've already had 5 CT scans, one Pet Scan, 6 MRIs, and 3 x-rays..... the problem is that I can no longer walk into or even sit in the waiting room chairs any more (I could when the first of these were scheduled but not now). I refuse to take any NSAIDs unless I absoslutely have to and just try to stay seated or laying down. I have NO appetite but finally, after those 4-1/2 months I was able to eat one real meal this past week. I have anemia but not from low iron (my iron is fine) and believe it's pernicious anemia (Vit B12 deficiency (which none of the doctor explained, they just said they didn't know what the anemia was) so now I'm taking this as a supplement. I'm just tired and unable to do anything. I want all this to end.

Welcome, @hulitoons. I can imagine that you just want this to be over. It certainly sounds like you need medical attention. Have you asked your doctors why more imaging studies are required? Might it be possible to have a telephone or virtual consult as a next step to get help with the immediate issues that are preventing you from being mobile? Please contact your doctor or consider getting second opinion.

eliquis has taken 95% of my ability to walk, off it a month, barely any better unfortunately, eliquis is a horrible poison for some people, a fate worse than death even

Muscle atrophy from blood thinners seems to me, to be dangerous, especially since the heart is also a muscle.  I am assuming, but could be wrong since I'm not a doctor, that those of us who have suffered blood clots and been put on eliquis have other issues that caused the blood clots in the first place and those issues have to be addressed in order to NOT have to be on blood thinners so that other dangerous issues do not arise.  I do agree, this feels like a slow moving poison that is making us even sicker, at least that's how it feels to me.  
Less than a year ago I worked out every day and had for years.   Now I've slowly become disabled.  Yesterday I finally ordered a wheelchair so that my husband can push me to appointments because I can barely walk without falling or passing out.  

my heart rate is 15-25 bpm higher than normal, if my heart was working like my legs I would be dead, not really sure why I'm not, if you read one guy on here stopped after 4 years and got better quickly, others takes longer it seems

My resting heart rate has also increased, sometimes 104 which is WAY higher than what was normal for me. It has steadily increased. I wonder if the increase is part of this? I agree, my legs and arms just won't move.... it takes a lot of stress, almost like a marathon and I have to sit down because my heart is racing and I'm breathing too hard.
