Sciatic Pain: Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it?
I've developed some scatic pain in the last two weeks. Has anyone else experienced this? I wonder if it's from riding the stationary bike. I had a massage that helped temporarily, but now it's back. The pain shoots up my leg to my bum when I put any weight on it. Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it?

@ldropps, good for you getting back on the bike quite literally. I hope that is not the cause of this new sciatica pain.

I know it seems too simple, but stretching really does help. You may wish to check the height of your bike seat. Is it too high or too low? An at-home physio therapist could help give you exercises and watch you on your bike to assess.
I will ask my cousin who is a physical therapist to take a look at me on the bike.

When I took a senior exercise class, exercising with ankle weights took away a woman sciatic pain.
I'm a physical therapist and specialize in this area. If you have been doing a lot of bending or sitting slouched or fallen on your bumm then you may have developed a bulging disc in your low back. Try doing the opposite movement of bending backwards at least 10x in a row or lying on your belly and pushing up into a cobra position 10x. If this helps at all then it's most likely a disc bulge. Doing these exercises throughout the day will allow the disc to retract to its proper position.

Following an injury years ago, I have chronic sciatica pain in my hip. I’m wondering what is being done successfully to ease the pain?
Hello Marian, sciatic pain can be so difficult to cure, but there are a lot of stretches and exercises that can help. And do remember your best friend, ice, to quiet the inflammation!
Can you tell me a little about where you get the pain, what treatments you have tried, and whether you have other problems like osteoporosis or spinal issues that would limit your activity? Finally, my pet question- how much time do you spend in a recliner? I'm sure once we have some details, others will pop in with suggestions too.
