Posted by nansmith @nansmith, Nov 1, 2017

Anyone have nausea with Trintellix 5mg? How long did it last? Been taking for almost 6 weeks and still have some nausea...will it get worse if I titrate to 10mg? Thanks.

Hi Tink,
Like you, several members have experienced nausea with Trintellix. I'm tagging @frankiep @heidi1346 @kelster69 @marjou @sls87113 @sunshinestacy @rightgirl so they can share their experiences and solutions with you.

Tink, I'm glad you have an appointment with your doctor in the new year to discuss options. May I ask why you and your provider chose to switch meds from Celexa to Trintellix?

My nausea while on Trintellix became unbearable. I switched back to Lexepro and it disappeared immediately. Lexepro works well for me. Give it a try.

I took Trintellix for about a year, and had nausea and vomiting without any warning. I used the anti-emetic, Zofran, which was great until it no longer worked. The anti-depressant that I'm on now doesn't work as well as Trintellix. Anybody know any anti-emetics that work well with Trintellix ?

What OTC medicines have you tried? Ginger tea and chews work with mild nausea. How about The Relief Band that uses a pressure point on the wrist? What Rx medicines have you already tried?

I’ve been taking Trintellex for almost 5 weeks. Started it at 5mg and up to 10 now. It helps with depression very well but nausea is very bad. Nausea has never been one of my top issues with antidepressants , and I’ve tried them all. I’m very surprised how severe the nausea is and how long it’s lasting not sure if it last I can stay on this . Does any have any similar experience and does it go away . Also I’d like to know the mechanism by which it cause such bad nausea ?

I’ve never had nausea with other antidepressants before so this is very strange for me and I like to know why. It would be nice if H . Lundbeck could address this issue . I want to stay on it because I’ve read it’s Neuro protective also.

Yes, I also have bad nausea after 5 weeks . It works very well otherwise , not sure how long I can tolerate if it doesn’t get better.

@linlou Id like to know the answer to your question also, regarding nausea. I’m not sure that’s very well understood by anyone, at least I’ve never heard it explained. I had terrible nausea when tapering a benzo, so I can relate. I may can offer some solutions for nausea. What have you tried?
