Brachioradial pruritus. (severe itching on forearms and neck, no rash).

Does anyone know of this. I think its rare but does exist. My neurologist does not know about this. I have compression between my c5 and c6 cervical disk and have had alot of sun damage to my skin.

I thought I had it for the last 15 yrs. I found relief with ice and chiropractor care. It disappeared periodically and came back. After the last 18 months of itching, ice packs, crying and different drugs, I finally was seen and treated at Mayo after skin patch testing and bx. It wasn’t the brachial thing at all, symptoms about the same. I’m now 65. Maybe the itching will lead to something else after your skin says “NO MORE.’ I too had a lot of sun exposure and cervical issues. After seeing Dr. Y at Mayo in Scottsdale, I am a happy woman. He dx me with atopic allergic dermatitis.

I too have suffered with itching on my forearms for over 20 years. Some days, I think I'm going insane. I have been to about every doctor imaginable. Right now as I sit here, I feel like a bee is stinging my arm. It starts with stinging, itching, and a very small pin head like mark. With the itching comes a small open sore mark that takes forever to go away. It may go away and comes back in the same spot. I give up with doctors. The only thing that helps is ice and I found that Eucerin Skin Calming Itch Soothing Cream does help. Good Luck to all.

Hi all, I have a similar itch condition, arms and legs, no rash…on a FB Group for this condition, someone discovered that their pre-workout supplement killed the itch…she isolated it to Beta Alanine, an OTC amino acid. It kills the itch for about 90% of us on this FB Group…I buy mine on Amazon. I use the NOW Brand…but any brand that says CarnoSyn Beta Alanine in the supplement Facts section is what to look for. I take 750 MG to prevent itch, up to 1500 mg to kill a bad itch. Maybe it will work for this condition too…There is one medical paper written be a pair of Stanford Dermatologist who tried it on a patient, it worked. The NIH now lists it as a treatment for itch relief. My condition is Aquagenic Pruritus…I also has itch associated with Mastosytosis,,,Beta Alanine works for both.

First, Google returns many results addressing an itch or tingle CAUSED by Beta Alinine. Have you experienced this? How can it both cause and stop itching? Second, would you please give more information on the dosage you use? For example, do you take 750MG once a day or divided? Do you double the dose for breakthroughs? Finally, if you would be so kind, please send a link to the NIH article.

Here is a link to the Stanford paper

I take 750 mg every 4 hours as needed. I use the capsules but you can buy in powder and play with dosing. The info on the bottles is for preworkout dosing which is much higher then I need for my itch…T high doses most people feel a strange tingling, so it is recommended to start with low dose.

Before showing, I take1500 mg and if taken on an empty stomach, I get the tingling feeling…so I try not to take on and empty stomach.
