What's outside of your picture window today?
As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?
For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

@loribmt and all....Nope! Not ever here, I'm afraid. Beautiful, my dear. It snowed and stayed overnight in the '80s. We've had 3 good snowfalls and a really wicked ice storm one year in the '70s, No one in Jax knows how to drive in the ice or snow, not really and nor many anyway, so it was a hoot. Most of the city stayed off the streets completely. The bridges over the St. Johns River were all closed down, really dangerous, and might end in the water. It was fun, tho, kind of, but my store was closed and I couldn't get across town to open it for a couple of days One of my staff opened for me as soon as she could get out and about. That, my dear, was a lifetime ago. Our winters are not even winter as you know it.
Today it's in the "80. Have been upstairs all day. Ck'd the feeders several times out the window, but not much activity I saw, except of course my precious pesky squirrels. I must spend more time enjoying the patio. A neighbor one street down called yesterday and came down with a chocolate ice cream cone in hand. We went for a bit of a walk eating the treat and chatting. She lives alone but has a daughter and family in town and sees them often. But, she's lonely. 'Short walk as I couldn't breathe well, but after another friend with her dog joined us, we chatted and I walked back as they went on. They're both in pretty good shape, with normal issues like knees, back, bp, etc. We will do this again soon....
blessings, to all,
elizabeth
Aw, Elizabeth I’m happy you have a walking buddy, even if it’s just for a short jaunt! Gets the blood moving.
Oh my gosh, yes the south is not equipped to handle snow! Happily, that doesn’t happen too often down there. We’ll be heading down the end of this week for 6-8 weeks. Back home for the holidays and then return to Fl to finish out the winter. We’re not near Jacksonville or I’d come visit! Bummer. But we’ll be in the same “state of mind”. Lol Sunny and warm.
@artist01, @ess77, @jakedduck1 and fellow ‘window watchers’. Well, this isn’t outside my window but it was next to me on a walk yesterday in a Florida state park. I zoomed as much as I could with my phone. My husband was encouraging me to wade in to get a closer look. 😂
@loribmt
“My husband was encouraging me to wade in to get a closer look.”
You might want to investigate your hubby's motives.
It's not a duck but almost as good. I would like a closer look too.
Jake
I would have handed the camera to him.
@loribmt, @jakedduck1 @ess77 : OMG, Lori. Be careful out there. Those critters can move really fast. Looks like he's smiling at your husband's suggestion to wade in for a closer look. 🤣
(You first, Rick!) 😊
I only have to outrun him! ( my husband) Easy peasy 😂😂
@loribmt, @@artist01, @jakedduck1. @becsbuddy and all...Aw...Now, that's my part of the country....our very dangerous dinosaurs of the water, gators! Lori, is your hubby tired of you? Better ck to see if there's a young blond in the wings...for him to urge you into the water to get closer. You probably would have been good eatins'.
They really are quite dangerous you know, and they really do taste like chicken, but better. They aren't endangered anymore, We did such a good job protecting them, .they can be hunted now by licensed hunters, and are on the menu throughout the state. Kind of interesting fellows, really.
Glad to touch base, folks. Still not on the computer much, but beginning to catch up as I'm finally getting stronger. The probiotic 'prescribed' by the Integrated Medicine doc. I bought it online, used to be sold on the Mayo Store site. The first day after taking it, I felt better. 2nd day, no more issues, and I began to feel actually energy, went walking in the Mayo buildings again, for the first time in several months. Walking.
I've cleaned several feeders today and filled/ hung them. I watched the tree rats and now, praises, the real rats on the patio eating the seed. Yes, I now have nasty, infection-ridden real rats, again. This happens when I hang feeders. They found me again. Soon, if I don't kill them, I'll be hearing them in the attic and/or walls! It's a really difficult problem for me, as I hate to kill them or put out poison due to Samantha enjoying the patio and I don't want other animals to eat it. But, I'll keep her inside and put out poison tomorrow.
Thank the good Lord I'm feeling better. Finally. And now, Rob is having problems. and, so it goes in chilly, soon to be warm next few days, and then soon to be very cold this weekend... Florida.
Blessings all. Elizabeth
No worries, Elizabeth. My husband and I have been stuck together like glue for over 52 years and married for 47 of those. We’re both too old now to break in new spouses. 😂 He was joking about the alligator. And believe me we were cautious. I quietly and quickly snapped the pics and we were out of there.
I’m happy to hear you’ve turned the corner and getting better!! That’s fantastic. My gosh, you’ve been suffering for far too long and this is a much deserved break, Miss Elizabeth! If I could still do cartwheels without inflicting serious bodily injury I’d do a couple in celebration for you. 😅
Oh nasty news about the rats. I worry with using poison outside because squirrels and other animals get into that too. Then larger predator birds and animals eat the poisoned critters. That’s a conundrum on not feeding the birds or having rats…
Keep up the healing!! So good to have you back. 🥰
@loribmt,
That is one scary Florida dude in the picture! You were smart not to go closer. How far away were you?
