Low blood pressure

Posted by Karenatmayo @karenatmayo, Jul 26, 2018

I have low blood pressure and will see my primary care physician soon about it. (I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, ugh, last year and had whole brain radiation and now taking iBrance and letrozole. I also have afib, lucky me, and take metroprolol which I know course lowers blood pressure. I feel better after I eat a meal. I will have to see what primary care doctor says about low blood pressure. Wondering how anyone else deals with low blood pressure. I am 69.

My blood pressure has been low the past few weeks. 96/54 yesterday when I went for my physical. My doctor didnt seem to be concerned. My normal for since forever is 112/75 around about. I've been having headaches and my neck hurts. But I've also been lifting weights. So he gave me a muscle relaxer for my neck. I'm not one to drink a lot of fluids. Could I just be dehydrated?

My husband is taking midodrine for low blood pressure. It has helped. Sometimes it is still on lower side but not as bad.

You might want to check with your doctor immediately. I don't know what your medication situation is but when mine was running that low the doctor reevaluated what I was taking. He weaned me off the Beta Blocker and blood pressure returned to a level that allowed me to gain some strength Mine stays around 115/68 - 125/72 with a pulse in 50-70 range. I do feel better. My HA was 4 years ago with 3 stents. I think it is possible to have a BP too low. I am 75 as well.

Hi @saaad and welcome to Connect. Can you give us a little more information on your post? is this your blood pressure at it's lowest? Are you seeing someone about it? Do they have you on any medications?

Just joined, so first time on...I am just out of the hospital, at 38 open heart surgery, over the years, stents, rotablation, etc, and now at a young 80 heart failure....Fluid was drained over a three week stay in hospital (ICU) home now, they changed my meds, and now blood pressure is low, I think too low, but don't know how low it is or dangerous.. it is usually about 90 over 40 but sometines 80 over low 40's....Hard to see doctor, need to wait sometimes months, is that something I should be worried about, the low pressure??

@roosterry
Sounds like a question for your doctor.
My dad was a quadriplegic and had low blood pressure and had to take a drug called Florinef to raise it to prevent his passing out. Problem was when he was in bed in increased dramatically but raising the head of his bed usual resolved it. Perhaps if your not having any symptoms your pressure is fine for you but might be dangerous for someone else but you need to find that out from a doctor.
Take care,
Jake

Thank you Jake, much appreciate your time and comments, will certainly "attempt" to get in touch with a doctor here.....I sometimes find pharmacists just as knowledgeable, but will get in touch with someone... Terry
