High Coronary Calcium Score: How do others feel emotionally?

I have a calcium score of 1,950 which is extremely high which means I am at a very high risk for a cardiac event,heart attack,stroke or sudden death.

I take a statin and baby aspirin. I have never been sick, have excellent cholesterol, low blood pressure and I am not overweight. I have no other health problems and I have never been sick. But I feel like a walking time bomb which has caused me a lot of stress. I am 70 yrs old.

I wonder how others with this condition feel emotionally?

I am 70 and just received score of 501 on cardio scan. I am also in wonderful shape, do aerobic exercises and am 6' tall and weigh 165 pounds. What might be paths for treatment? Thanks. Mumbles

@mcphee I agree with @predictable I also have high calcium caused by hyperparathyroidism. It can affect many areas of your health. Ask for a blood test to check the parathyroid hormone. Then, if it is high, ask for a scan of the parathyroid. Best wishes and keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Yes I have symptoms ..having ultrasound soon. my real concern is that I also have ARSA and would be unsure of surgery. thank you.

I appreciate your reply. I was not familiar with ARSA so I did a search, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/410, and it appears that this involves neurological problems, perhaps on the order of MS. Is that the case?

As this seems rather rare, how was it discovered? Please share only as you feel comfortable.

No actually it is retro esophageal subclavian Artery not many Doctor discuss this conditions felt it was really not very important birth defect. Found during ultrasound and MRI of my heart. Thank you

Hi @perry1,

I had one parathyroid gland removed for hyperparathyroidism by a surgeon who specializes in thyroid and parathyroid surgery 15 years ago. The incision was a very small incision through my neck and I recovered quickly without any side effects from the outpatient surgery. My tumor was benign and the scar is not visible today.

My parathyroid hormone level dropped immediately, but is started increasing a few years after. My endocrinologist did some more testing and my Vitamin D level was low. After I started taking Vitamin D, my parathyroid hormone level dropped into normal range and remains normal today. I think having a surgeon who specializes in this type of surgery is key. I was told at the time of surgery that the tumor could grow back or others could appear in other glands. So far, no problems.
