Chest pain > a month
I have been having intermittent mid chest pain for over a month. It happens daily. The pain radiates up my neck into my jaw and continues up into my temples. At times it radiates across my shoulders in the front. I have had type 1 diabetes for 47 years and it happens whenever my glucose gets high and with any minor exertion. I do not have any GI problems such as reflux.
Has anyone ever had this or does anyone have any suggestions?

@raffypolicarpio Welcome to our caring group and this is a good place to talk ,there are caring people on here to help if we can Since you have to wait till Monday for results Do you have an anti acid you can take for your gerd? or just milk . maybe this will help calm down the pains. I hope you feel better . Please update us .
I have GERD. While it's true that milk can temporarily buffer stomach acid, nutrients in milk, particularly fat, may stimulate the stomach to produce more acid.
Hey there
I went to the ER with mild chest pains, nausea and heartburn that came off and on for weeks. Have afib so thought I had better get checked out after waking up feeling really bad at 1 in the morning. After two days in the hospital all tests came back fine regarding my heart. It got worse after I went home i went to the gastro Dr as I have been on meds for hiata hernia and acid reflux. Well, an endoscope was done and was told the hernia is constricting my esophagus. I have gerd and nothing is helping with the upper abdominal pain along with the other symptoms. Several tests have been done and the hernia is there. I pray the surgery I will have in two weeks cures the pain and the problems associated with it. You might have a sliding hernia. You might want to get checked out as this is very scary.
@sonny723 I hope the surgery you are having will get you back to normal Best wishes
I've also noticed, by the way, that I have had redness in hands especially on the other side not the palms but the other side around the knuckles. This could be anything but I'm not sure. My Doctors havent been overly worried about it. Also I've noticed some minor swelling in legs and feet or what I've thought is swollen but no one else seems to think so but Doctors havent been worried about it either
Hi all. My name is Hank Love. A month ago, my wife went to Paducah to visit her parents for what was supposed to be a month but turned out to be 2 weeks. That Friday I had a really bad chest pain, I didnt know what it was scared me half to death. I went to my Doctor Monday morning and he told me I had had an anxiety attack. I havent had anxiety in YEARS. The last time I had anxiety was when I was 14. Here I am 22 now. So when she got back I thought everything would be fine but I was still having chest pains, so I went to the hospital and it came to find out i had the flu. That night I had another anxiety attack, EMTS came out to my house I thought I was having a heart attack. So they did an EKG on me and my heart was fine. A few days went by I still had chest pain but they came and went it would feel as though someone took a knife and stabbed me in sternum and left breast. And that was it. But we were laying down one night and all of a sudden my chest got tight I called again EMTs came out they said "You're 22. You don't even smoke a half a pack of cigarettes a day you're fine. Its ANXIETY. But I've still had the chest pains come and go throughout the day. Its came to jabs under my left breast and its tender to touch. I'm not sure if it's the Rib or musculoskeletal pain or inflammation. But I've had it a little over a month now. And the whole time my mind has convinced me I'm secretly dying. Help??

@hanklove, have you ruled out non-cardiac conditions such as GERD, reflux or esophageal spasm?
Hi there,
During first dose of the vaccine I took, Pfizer, my heart rate spiked and I got blurry vision but after that initial on set I was fine. The second dose I had standard side effects like headache, etc… this was back in April, so I’m unsure if there’s a connection here.
I’ve been having chest pain for over 5 weeks now. It started on a flight from DEN-CHI back in August. My heart spiked to 171 Bpm for roughly 2-4 minutes and I felt like crap after wards initially wrote it off as adrenalin dump. But after a week of being back home in Denver I started having pains in my chest (while sedentary and exercising) and 5 more times had those similar heart rate spikes. The pains include tightness in chest, burning sensation, tension in shoulders , pain in jaw (which could be from my braces I wear, headaches, fatigue, extremely panic and anxiety, pain in both arms, the constant is there seems toalways been something off. As of today I have been to my primary care, urgent care, ER, and cardiologist. Every tests they have done so far has come back clean. I did a stress test last Friday and there was no issues with the EKG, o2 levels, or blood pressure. My normal labs ie cholesterol, blood cell count, troponin levels were all normal. My plan moving forward is to get an echo, holter, and angeogram done along with inflammation markers tested. I feel hopelesss because I have no clue what’s going on with me. I’ve made major improvements to my diet cutting out alcohol, caffeine, and I’m basically eating veggies fruits nuts and some meat. When I speak to doctors they seem to be chopping up to anxiety. Which it just doesn’t feel like. Any advice or insight would be extremely helpful.
Also forgot to add I’m 30 years old and currently 217 pounds. Since March I’ve lost 38 pounds.
I am sorry the hear what you are experiencing, that has to be very frightening, especially at your age! Welcome to Mayo Connect, a community of people living with a wide variety of diseases and conditions, who support each other along the way. We try to be informed medical consumers, and our own best advocates in our care. We are not medical professionals, so not able to provide medical advice. We can tell you what has worked for us (or not) and provide you with information and conversation about your questions.
From what you write, you are taking all the right steps, both to uncover the cost, and to live a healthy life. You mentioned that you wear braces, have you consulted with your Orthodontist - I know it seems like a stretch, but two things come to my mind - either a hidden dental infection, or a nerve irritation caused by tooth movement. Both are worth ruling out, at least.
Finally, sometimes when we transition to healthy eating, we add supplements to our diet, which can have unintended side effects. If you have done this, take a close look at all the ingredients in each one, and all the potential side effects. Here is a place to start: https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/index
