What to expect at Mayo Clinic's Post COVID Treatment Program?

Posted by tknipp @tknipp, Sep 7, 2021

I just finished a week full of appointments in Mayo. I am post covid 10 months with pulmonary "Covid" fibrosis. I am scheduled for 2 Post COVID Treatment Programs this week and am unsure what they will entail? Does anyone know?

Hi @tknipp, good question. When you first come to Mayo Clinic’s Post COVID 19 Care Clinic, you begin by meeting with a provider who completes a thorough evaluation, including discussing your medical history and current symptoms, and doing a physical examination. We use the information learned during the evaluation to help develop a personal treatment plan.

Have you already done that with the full week of appointments you just had? May I ask which Mayo location you are at?

Hi Shirley, To make an appointment at Mayo Clinic, you can self-refer (submit the appointment request yourself) or ask your physician to make a referral. Please see this webpage for contact information and frequently asked questions http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

Hi Tknipp, how are you doing?

Here's a video with Dr. Ganesh about the PCCOC (Post-COVID Care Clinic Treatment Program)

I suspect the nurse already shared this with you. Have you started the program now?

Here's more information about what you can expect at the classes next week and beyond.

You will take part in 2 small group sessions virtually with a nurse, healthy living program staff, and other participants who have post-COVID syndrome. There are 4 hour-long sessions on each day. You'll learn about post-COVID syndrome and how to manage symptoms, as well as be able to share your experiences with each other.

At the end of the 2 days, you will be connected with a Wellness Coach for one-on-one coaching sessions for 12 weeks. A nurse will also stay connected with you for virtual follow up visits alongside the coaching sessions.

I'll be very interested to hear your experiences with the program. I hope you'll return to tell others. Please let fellow participants know that they can also continue to connect with you and others here on Mayo Clinic Connect's Post-COVID Recovery support group.
