Hi @jonasd,
The first thing I think you have to realize is that not every person that consumes porn is an addict, or will become an addict. There are serious differences between addictions, compulsions, obsessions, and so on. I feel like you need to understand where your struggle lies first.

How often? Do you get depressed after? Are they intertwined?

Here are a few scholarly articles that might help guide you.

Jonas, Do you have someone that you can talk to about this struggle and what it may mean in correlation with your depression?

Thanks for getting in touch with me, I already ready the articles that you suggested, they where very helpful… and yes I have a problem with porn because I doesn’t leave me to do my regular work or plans as I usually do. And at this moment I try several times to quit but I still getting to the same point.

Right now I don’t have any person that I can speak with.

@jonasd Are you searching for help in your area or at a facility like Mayo Clinic?

Hello @jonasd

I see that it has been a few days since you last posted to Amanda, @amandaburnett. Have you thought of anyone that you might confide in about your pornography problem? Here is another article from WedMD which will reinforce some of the ideas in the articles that Amanda has posted. Here is the link, https://www.webmd.com/connect-to-care/addiction-treatment-recovery/porn-addiction-treatments.

As you can see, there are treatments for this problem that can help you to be released from pornography and being to live a more productive life. It will undoubtedly require other people to help you. There are individual and group counseling programs to help as well as medications to treat depression.

Have you consulted with a doctor yet?

Hello @amandaburnett and @hopeful33250 I really appreciate your help. I’m looking forward to search somebody to talk about the porn problem I read those articles and I put in practice some advices. For me is not easy to talk to about this with a person that is in my circle of family and friends.
I visit the doctor who is helping me with the medication and process of the depression.
I also identified that the porn source is the end point of my daily crisis of sadness and desesperation.

I will talk to the specialist about this. Again thank you for the support, just to know that somebody is there worried about me, push me up.

I think professional help will give you the added support you need @jonasd. Remember that this will be a process and will take time.

Will you post again and let us know of your progress?

I would try reaching out to sexaholics anonymous and find meetings in your area. Sex comes in a million different forms, so if porn is your sex of choice it doesn't disqualify you for this program. The question I would ask myself is, "Am I powerless over pornography, and has my life become unmanageable?"

Funny you should post this, a really good friend of mine just overcame this and came out about it, and I had another good friend that brought a buddy with him to this program I'll post below. They both swear by it, to the point where they volunteer their time to talk to people about it. Which is odd to me since they were semi-shut ins but now proclaim this from state to state, but hey they must think it's pretty good if they are that motivated.

Suppossedly from what they tell me is that this is a camp for people struggling with porn. And the goal isn't necessarily to control the urges, but to get to the root of the problem, build confidence in yourself, and to explore productive ways to make you feel good about yourself. He is one of the most amazing people I know, and he said that he felt like it was a weed that he had to uproot himself. It changed his life so much that now he wants to give that opportunity to others. He is constantly asking me if I know anybody that he can help, so if you wanna ask him about it I'm sure he'd just love to tell you about it! He is now a life coach, and one of the best bros I know. If he believes it works, then I believe him. Here's his profile page: (He uses it to help people with life stuff or pornography struggles.)

Hello @jonasd,

I was thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. You were thinking about getting some professional help and perhaps joining a support group.

Have you had any success in those areas?
