My numbers came down considerably and definitely slowed down the growth. You just can’t seem to stop hasimotos…small vessel heart disease and small fiber neuropathy I believe is symptoms of hasimotos. Diabetes and weight gain is still a problem.
Very interesting! I went to the dr. to discuss a colonoscopy procedure. While he was talking to me about the procedure sitting behind his desk, he stopped and said, "Has anyone told you that you have thyroid nodules?" That was the first I was told about it. I had it checked from there and have been on this journey. All the years that doctors would feel my neck and everything was fine, and then a colonoscopy doctor tells me what I have without touching my neck. How was the surgery when your thyroid was removed?
That is a coincidence! I think its because the dr i saw about having a colonoscopy was a surgeon primarily and I think they must notice lumps and bumps and read the reports?!
I should have been checked for thyroid as years before had radiation for cancer of cervix and during the five year follow up the dr at the cancer clinic always felt around my neck, but never by my family doctor!
I wish when dismissed from cancer clinic they gave us a sheet of paper with what we should ask our family doctors to do in future, e.g. pap tests, check thryoid etc. I left it up to my family doctor and he let me down on this and other issues a lot.... no wonder people go on google to check things out.
I had a D&C and surgeon said took my appendix out as noticed had "issues"?? Year later another doctor said the surgeon had punctured my uterus so while fixing that took out my appendix.A year later I found out and many many other things I could tell you over the years.
Be vigilant. Ask questions. Check internet. Please don't leave it up to your busy family doctor who, while may be great at many things, doesn't know everything. Also I now ask for a copy of every test result, its free and I would pay for. Even so my fam dr said he could not FEEl the goiter, but another doctor could SEE it from across desk! Ugh Now no one is looking after me as no family dr. I have to be my own dr. and its hard at 77.
I had my endo appointment and she told me the nodule was benign, (which I already knew from the hospital). Basically, I was took she would look at it again in January. Nothing can be done, just have to live with it or remove the thyroid. I asked the dr. what she would do if she were me. She said she would try to keep my thyroid. She would not give me any thyroid medicine because she said it can cause problems with the heart. I am going to try to go gluten free to see if that will help reduce the size of the nodule. Sometimes I can't feel it, but sometimes I feel like something is stuck in my throat. Just wish I could feel fine and start growing my hair again. I don't know what else to do.

I have a thyroid nodule (actually 3 of them) that have been monitored for about 15 years or so, they get bigger, smaller, sometimes I can see them... This actually persisted through a period of hyperthyroid, which didn't seem to have any impact on the size. My thyroid hormones (all) are also checked often and remain normal no matter the size of the nodule. I can tell you that going gluten-free 10+ years ago has had absolutely no impact on the nodules or thyroid hormones. Who suggested that might help you?
When I saw the latest endocrinologist, she said removing the thyroid is now a last resort, as replacement hormones are never quite the same as your body.

The gluten free was just a thought I had. I was thinking maybe the gluten aggravated it and caused it to grow. I guess I just have to get use to the "lump" in my throat at times. Previously, I could not feel the nodules. I am hoping they will maybe shrink since the size increase just seemed to start within the last 3 months. Have you found your hair thinner? Anything that you have done that has helped? I know the endo told me there was basically nothing I could do, but I'm always hopeful.

When I had hyperthyroidism (Graves disease) I had massive hair loss, but I also had heavy metal poisoning from a deteriorating hip implant which was removed in 2011. As those resolved my hair grew back, and I haven't had a problem since.

I'm experiencing it, at first I just feel weird why my heart rate is slower it's always below 70 and if I rest it's below 50, and I always feel out of breath the oxygen value is also always below 97% I look for sources on the internet and sulk that maybe I have a problem with thyroid hormones, such as hypothyroidism, I went to the doctor and my thyroid blood test results were normal but the ultrasound results had nodules and I did FNA the results were malignant, the doctor said I had to have surgery, then is this also the cause of slow heartbeat ?

I have issues with slower heart rate of 55/56 with weakness in legs, arms, neck. with sob as well. I have nodules and cysts that I am due to see the endocrinologist soon to discuss it. I am to get a follow up sonogram in 11/23. I thought too that the low pulse (when normally I’m in the 80s-90s +. It was disturbing and alarming. I saw cardiologist yesterday. I’m wearing a halter monitor for 15 days and will have an echo in early-mid July. He did blood work. Some high some low but nothing super high or low. I have nodules and cysts under 1cm. So they watch and wait. I trust my cardiologist. He’s tops. So, he’s looking to rule out PAF and another thing I don’t recall. I see the endo soon. I will let you know what I find when they do. I hope you are feeling better. My heart rate fluctuated from mid 50’s to waking up with 136. My blood pressure readings also variable. Night and normal to lower.
If I were you I would call the doctor who is evaluating and treating your thyroid and ask them. To see if you should see a cardiologist. Do you have a history of high blood pressure?

Hello @chenik33 and welcome to Mayo Connect. I can understand your concern about the relationship between the thyroid malignancy and the slow heartrate.
As mentioned by @nemo1, I would encourage you to consult with a cardiologist. Have you had any heart problems in the past?
I have two small nodules. So far, I have been told l have to get a scan once a year to check on their size and condition. Other than having a little difficulty swallowing food, they don't bother me. However, I may still have my thyroid taken out because the graves disease is causing many other problems with my body.
