Hey there @luann262 ...... glad I could help. CBD alone is not my choice either. None of my tinctures have any hemp. The studies I have read claim a need for THC to jump-start things. I use a 1:3 CBD/THC. This is for my worst days and most difficult pain. It works and also forces me to take a nap. Maybe that is a good thing.

The 2:1 CBD/THC is my usual nighttime mix. It is calming and I go right to sleep. The THC amount just works well with the CBD. I usually sleep all night. Sometimes I have a toss and turn period at about 4 a.m. Depending on what my day holds I may decide to add a little and sleep a little more. As we use these medications, you will find that it takes a little more as our usage time lengthens, especially with the 2:1. The standard cannabis rule is: "You can never have less, you can always have more." I have made my way to a whole dropper at night and even more if I need it.

In the morning or at least when I get up, shower, and get dressed, I have a morning 1:1 CBD/THC dosage at about 3/4 of the dropper. This is my "get going girl" dose and is perfect for me right now. Once again, I use 3/4 of a dropper right now.

So....you are your own prescriber and administrator. I have been on this flexible tincture program for several years and a medical cannabis user for about 7 years.

May you be safe, protected, and free from inner and outer harm.
Chris

Hello, Chris and Luann. this is great detailed information that I appreciate. I've found this last year as I've tested different combinations for my combination of needs, I'm using much the same. I'm using 1:1 nightly, full dropper and often about 1/2 dropper in mid-morning. I do add a tiny bit of the THC spray, a tiny spray when I need it during the day or if I have added pain not controlled otherwise by voltaren. I'm now trying the extra stray of THC instead of voltaren or patches to see if it works and switch to use less voltaren. We'll see what happens.

But, Chris, you have been and are a true guide for me on this walk. I appreciate the help and the confidence you've given me to move ahead and try different mixtures/amounts for relief. I don't and won't smoke. Asthma, chronic bronchitis and other things demand I pay attention. In fact, don't think at this time I could even take a puff into my lungs!!! Tincture works well for me, is easier to control amounts and dosages.

Be well, my friend and free of pain. Blessings, elizabeth

Good morning and thank you so much!! I am going to run to the dispensary this week and get some tinctures. Pretty expensive!
Ct is in the process of legalizing recreational use and allowing medical patients to grow which would be fun. I have tried making balms and lotion but don't really feel anything from the topicals. I have also made gummies as they don't sell them here. I will definately get some tinctures this week! I do smoke which I shouldn't! just before bed only and try to rely on Aleve during the day. I need more .
Yes- thank you so much for all you do to mentor this !!
Chris- you are an interior designer? I run a drapery workroom!
Thanks!
Luann

The tinctures are expensive, but they last a long time. I take mine sublingually. I put my topical CBD on pressure points and recognize that they do best for soft tissue pain.

Thanks Chris! I just re-read all the posts. I will try the tinctures- they are really expensive! I do find that CBD alone is usless in my case. Giving up alcohol going on 5 months has helped a tiny bit but it is so maddenning to have this condition and deal with constant pain, numbness and the resulting insomnia. The MM does help some.
can you let me know what the strength is of your tinctures?
Thanks!!
Luann

Thanks! I’ve started to try vaping 5cbd: 1 thc. During the day and it’s helping. Then I have been using a little 3:1 evening, bedtime I go stronger. Sometimes the pain is just untouchable. I am going to a new doctor tomorrow to discuss medication. I want to go over my prescriptions and the medical cannabis , supplements and make sure I’m on the right track

Hello @karmamamma,
Welcome to Connect and thank you for your private message about medical cannabis. I am going to answer you here in the middle of the public forum, in a section dealing with Marijuana and Chronic Pain. Our purpose on Connect is to gain knowledge by sharing. As we all know, knowledge is power.......and therefore needs to be offered to everyone.

@karmamamma, I think there is a lot of information in this discussion that may help you in some way. I understand that you have severe osteoarthritis in your hip.....with the addition of a hardware breech. Like me, when you need a strong pain med that works, you chose Dilaudid. Many folks don't know about it because it is such an old standby.

You are now facing either a dilemma or an unwelcome decision. Congratulations, by the way on your successful liver transplant. You hoped to leave the Dilaudid behind and replace it with medical cannabis (marijuana). One of your nurses feels that the cannabis might interfere post-transplant with Tacrolimus. Is there research to be discovered about this possible connection?

My energy these days is spent trying to keep up with the cannabis legal issues in a lot of statuses and getting a grasp on new products and better products that appear so frequently.

For starters, I am going to ask @suinmn and @hopeful33250 to share what research information they might have about Tachro. They are fellow mentors and known for being very thorough. Thank you for thinking of Mayo Connect. We are here for you.

May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
Chris
