How much covid protection are transplant recipients really getting
When will the CDC update their guidance on immunocompromised people and how much protection were getting from these vaccines. Are we still at risk even after vaccination?

Hope our country can get that vaccination number super high! Will make all the difference! 70% is great start!!
Yes. I have to say our Governor and his administration have been remarkable throughout the pandemic, from mask mandate to guidelines and vaccination rollout based on science and our state’s demographics. While also addressing the needs of businesses and working with our tourism sector, which is a huge part of our economy. He’s still holding twice weekly press conferences aired on public radio and streamed!
I'm a 70 yr old double transplant patient (Liver and Kidney) 2 year out.
I also watched the zoom meeting and I know I do not have antibodies (Moderna). I also had to delay a trip to see family in Europe. Based on the Zoom meeting, I hope a monoclonal antibody infusions works. We will just have to continue having to be careful. I live in Las Vegas where we have 300.000 tourists many weekends - so it's very difficult to go out anywhere.
I found this attached link to a recent Mayo Clinic study to be of particular interest. My son is a heart transplant recipient, vaccinated and 1 year out from transplant. Our masks and protocols are staying in force.

Thank you, Brenda. This Mayo article presents a clear message to all transplant patients.
1) Continue to use the safe practices. Don’t let your guard down. And 2). Researchers are working on learning more about how to protect us.
Im glad that you are keeping up with the latest information and that you are working alongside of him to stay safe as possible. I am right now feeling pressure from others who feel that I am being too careful. It causes friction and I don’t like that.
I like to use articles like this one to try to get them to understand.
lol athenalee, I'm in the same boat. I had the Pfizer vaccine, I'm just 7 months post-transplant, I'm 62 years old and I take MMF. Still, I'm hoping for the best but prepared for the worst 🙂
I'm not sure if my immune system will mount an antibody response or not, but I think it's doubtful. It's a little disconcerting to think that our safety may lie in the hands of anti-vaxxers. I'm really hoping they come up with alternative treatments that are effective because I don't want to live the rest of my life as a hermit if it can be helped.
Hah. Transplant twins almost! Good to meet you. I know, like I mentioned, I’m glad I live in a town of just 12,000 people in the state with the highest number of vaccinated people and consistently the lowest number per capita of Covid cases. Spring is here, so I’m doing all the group activities outside I can. At least the country is on a better track with vaccines. Hang in there!
Two months after my 2nd Pfizer shot I took this new blood test that is not available at all labs.. The test showed that I have high antibodies for this virus. My number is 250. The blood test is for people to take after their shots. It is called SARS-2 CoV Semi-Quant Total Ab Code# 164090. I have had 3 transplants since 1985.
That’s excellent! Thank you for sharing.
I asked my Mayo doctor about getting an antibodies test, but he doesn’t think it’s necessary. I am 300 days post-bone marrow transplant. I would like to know if the Moderna vaccine was effective!
